POSITION DETAILS

This Development Associate will report to the Associate Director of Institutional Giving and work closely with the Chief of Staff, CEO and External Relations team to support in the solicitation of $10 million in requests annually, with a specific focus on managing a portfolio of foundation and corporate partners and supporting the Chief of Staff and CEO in their fundraising of major individual donors. The Development Associate will also manage, in many cases, the fundraising database, perform prospect research, and support on policy efforts in partnership with the Communications and Strategic Advocacy lead.

 

Primary Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

•       Relationship Management/Writing – Manage relationships within a portfolio of renewed and prospective institutional funders, drafting proposals, taking meetings/calls, and preparing reports to keep them informed of Neighborhood Trust’s work and the impact of their contributions;

•       Research – Research, identify and help cultivate new institutional prospects in partnership with Associate Director; support the CEO and Chief of Staff in their outreach and individual fundraising through prospect research and drafting of pitches and proposals;

•       Database Management – Manage grant and donation processing, ensuring accurate tracking and acknowledgement of all gifts; enter and update financial and relationship data in Salesforce; build contact lists and generate reports, as needed;

•       Project Management – “Manage up” to ER team members to support all fundraising deliverables and accountabilities; work across the organization to gather necessary data from relevant Neighborhood Trust program and finance teams;

•       Support Communications and Strategic Advocacy needs including informing, drafting and editing of content;

•       Assist with special projects as needed.


KEY OUTCOMES

·        Manage a portfolio of 20+ institutional accounts, drafting and submitting an average of 2 grant requests per month and 2 reports per month for a total of $1 million requested annually;

·        Secure at least $300K in renewed support from existing institutional partners per year;

·        Achieve 40 – 50 touchpoints with current and prospective institutional funders a year.  


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

•       Bachelor’s degree required

•       1-2 years of development or related experience 

•       Excellent research, written and verbal communication skills

•       Thorough researcher; dexterous and clear with complex information

•       Exceptional listener with ability to identify and separate background noise from critical takeaways

•       Highly organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful

•       Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

•       Adopts new skills, procedures, and systems quickly

•       Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple deadlines

•       Flexible attitude, comfortable with ambiguity and ability to push projects forward

•       Comfortable working independently and collaboration with diverse personalities and work styles

•       Familiarity with database systems, Salesforce preferred

•       Experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
