POSITION SUMMARY


SPARK (Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge) is a national research study supported by SFARI that aims to recruit, engage and retain a community of 50,000 individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their family members living in the United States. Participation in SPARK involves the contribution of medical and behavioral information online, mailing in saliva for genetic analysis, the option to have genetic findings related to autism returned, and consenting to be invited to participate in future research studies. The SPARK community also provides researchers with an efficient way to invite individuals to participate in their research.


Reporting to the Participant Engagement and Outreach Manager, the Digital Media Manager will be responsible for overseeing all digital aspects of the SPARK Communications & Outreach team including, but not limited to, organic and paid social media advertising and other digital advertising, as well as digital asset management and creation.


This full-time position will be based at the Simons Foundation offices in New York City.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the creation of digital content including but not limited to the newsletter, social media graphics and program collateral for the SPARK Clinical Site Network.
  • Establish and maintain a library of print and digital assets for clinical site partners to utilize in recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Create written content for monthly e-newsletter and additional e-communications as needed.
  • Create and implement video strategy with media vendor.
  • Manage relationships and design processes with appropriate vendors (designers, videographers, etc.) for the purposes of updating and developing new content.
  • Create, curate and manage all organic and paid content for social media in partnership with design / marketing vendors and other members of the Communications & Outreach team.
  • Monitor, listen and respond to users on all social media channels including complex recruitment concerns, technical recruitment issues, and ongoing engagement.
  • Organize and host monthly webinars, Facebook Live events and other engagement opportunities through social media.
  • Analyze and report on metrics and recruitment and engagement ROI as needed.
  • Stay up to date on social media trends, audience preferences and best practices.
  • Liaise with the SPARK content manager on overall content strategy and message themes for cross-promotion on social media.
  • Support the development of collateral such as data reports and recruitment materials in concert with external designers and writers.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree a plus.



Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in communications, community engagement, marketing, media relations or social media.



Related Skills & Other Requirements

  • Past professional experience in social and digital media
  • Facility with various tools of digital technology and communication, including content management systems, design and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), and marketing and outreach tools such as Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Sprout Social.
  • Excellent graphic design skills, including the ability to adapt style and tone depending on the audience.
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) tools and best practices in digital marketing.
  • Analytical and multitasking skills
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization, as well as external communities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and is conscientious about grammar, spelling and tone in all communications.
  • Comfort working independently, but also works well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to balance workload under deadlines and multiple commitments.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with email, Excel, PowerPoint, and word-processing programs.
  • Must be able to travel to conferences and community events.
