Summary of Role:
Y.O.U. is seeking passionate, organized and dedicated candidates for the role of Program Manager. Reporting to the Elementary or Middle School Senior Program Manager, the Program Manager will lead youth programming, supervision, and community relations at one of Y.O.U.’s Summer Learning sites. This is a full-time position. The Program Manager will:
- Ensure that our summer programming addresses the academic, social and emotional needs of youth through an array of educational enrichment activities.
- Serve as a key ambassador for Y.O.U., partnering with school faculty, students, caregivers and the surrounding community.
- Supervise, manage, and coordinate a multi-person staff team.
- Coach their multi-person team through embedded professional development opportunities (learning plans, timely feedback, modeling facilitation, modeling curriculum development, modeling behavior management).
- Design and implement curriculum that follows Y.O.U. standards, communicates with parents, and maintains a safe and nurturing environment for the children.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Develop, lead and implement high-quality, strategically-planned programming. 40%
- Guides the creation and development of program curriculum and activities, acts as a mentor and resource regarding curriculum development and facilitation methodologies.
- Develops and implements a variety of enrichment activities on a daily basis including but not limited to social justice, anti- racist, cultural, artistic, physical fitness, STEM, adolescent identity and self exploration, and other academic enrichment activities on a daily basis.
- Ensures programs meet the needs and interests of students by offering a variety of enrichment opportunities and incorporates Y.O,U. positive youth development strategies.
- Supervise and facilitate enrichment activities with groups of 15 or more students and deliver group instruction in a safe, developmentally-appropriate, and structured environment.
- Coordinates student recruitment, registration, and retainment efforts for programming, ensures diverse student participation in programs.
Ensure high quality summer program through team leadership and coaching. 30%
- Observe enrichment groups, provide coaching and modeling in regards to classroom management, facilitation methods, building positive classroom culture, and curriculum using best practices.
- Identify needs and help outline and track professional development plans targeting youth work skills.
- Manage, organize, and supervise the site team including but not limited to goal setting, performance management, coaching, addressing training and knowledge gaps, and problem solving.
- Provide weekly supervision with site based staff
- Ensure program staff are delivering high quality activities, services and day-to-day supervision of youth.
Engage in cross-departmental collaboration to support overall agency operation. 10%
- Complete all agency expectations related to monthly reports, budget compliance, documentation, facility maintenance and ensure compliance with funding requirements are met on a timely basis for programs.
- Work in collaboration with other Program Managers and Clinicians to develop and achieve annual program goals.
Build relationships between learning programs, schools, families, and the wider community. 20%
- Coordinate, nurture, and support systematic communication and collaboration with school administrators, teachers, caregivers students, partners, and community representations (family nights, caregiver conferences, principal and social worker meetings, community celebrations and student showcases)
- Make appropriate resource referrals for families and students.
- Facilitate ongoing communication between service providers, teachers, parents, and students.
- Bachelor's degree required in education, psychology, sociology, human development or other related fields.
- Experience working with elementary or middle school youth in an educational setting, youth development agency, or community-based program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing or coordinating programs or projects including but not limited to academic, social and emotional learning, STEM and art youth enrichment activities.
- Supervisory experience with a focus on excellence, developing employees for future roles and a change champion for the organization.
- Experience in the development, implementation, evaluation, and measurement of program outcomes and impact
- Experience implementing classroom and behavior management practices such as restorative justice practices
- Experience with embedding anti-racist framework in program areas like curriculum development, classroom and program culture, and community relationships.
- Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with individuals from a wide range of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience in direct classroom or family support work with families of diverse economic backgrounds.
- A strong ability to initiate projects and develop and implement an array of social-educational activities on an independent basis.
- Proficiency in using technology such as GoogleSuite, Microsoft Office, Apple software, learning tools (Quizzizz, iCivics, EdPuzzle, Khan Academy, FlipGrid, ReadWorks, Kahoot, XtraMath, ST Math, National Geographic Kids, PBS Learning, etc)
- Strong social-emotional intelligence, teamwork, leadership, and technological skills.
- Demonstrated experience using creative and innovative facilitation skills.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: Full-time flexible schedule with some weekend & evening hours
