Program Coordinator and Research Assistant

Europe Program 

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, India, and the United States, is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator and Research Assistant to provide research and programmatic support to its DC-based Europe Program.  

The Program Coordinator and Research Assistant will be responsible for providing day-to-day support of the program's substantive work and research on issues related to the future of European politics and security-particularly with regard to transatlantic relations and the changing nature of power worldwide. Particular topics include the European Union, transatlantic relations, Europe’s approaches to AI and technology, the impact of climate on transatlantic relations, and Europe’s relations with China. Policy research tasks include support in drafting of reports, articles and op-eds; data collection from a variety of open sources; proofreading; and note taking during meetings and conferences. 

The candidate will also provide programmatic, administrative and events support related to the program such as assisting in organizing meetings, roundtables and conferences; maintaining and updating list of contacts; coordinating with other programs and organizations; tracking expenses and assisting in financial reporting; overseeing projects and ensuring that deliverables and deadlines are met.  

Successful applicants will have at least a B.A. in International Relations or a similar related field and up to one year of professional work experience. Excellent academic credentials, research, and writing background required. Position requires familiarity with current and enduring issues in U.S. foreign policy, European politics, and strategic issues; a proven interest in drivers of change in the global landscape; and the ability to produce well-cited and clear reports in a timely manner. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, diligence and creativity are required as well. Previous study or work experience in Europe and/or European language skills is strongly preferred.
