PROVAIL seeks an experienced Director of Clinical Services with a background in Speech, PT or OT to manage our outpatient rehabilitation clinic.
PROVAIL recently celebrated its 75th anniversary having been founded in 1942 by parents of children with cerebral palsy. They created some of the first community services for individuals with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities in the area. Our mission is supporting people with disabilities to fulfill their life choices. We help people decide how they want to live their life in the community and then provide the support services they need to act on those choices. We are a lifelong resource to individuals with disabilities and their families. Our services include:
· Community-based residential services for adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injury;
· Competitive supported employment helping adults and high school students with disabilities find jobs in the community;
· Clinical services including occupational/speech therapy and innovative assistive technology solutions for communication and mobility challenges; and,
We employ approximately 390 staff and have a budget of about $17.5 million.
The Director will lead a Clinic team that is widely recognized for its skill and experience supporting children and adults with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome. In Speech Therapy, we specialize in meeting challenging communication needs using Augmentative Communication and other forms of assistive technology. In Occupational Therapy, we specialize in bringing customized power wheelchairs and other devices to individuals with complex mobility challenges. We also operate an Assistive Technology lab with the latest adaptive hardware and software to help individuals use technology to communicate, access the internet and interact with their home environment. PROVAIL is also a provider for the state Telephone Equipment Distribution program, which brings adapted telecommunication technology to people with speech disabilities.
The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the oversight and management of our rehab clinic program and its staff. The team of clinicians currently includes 3 Speech Therapists, 1 Occupational Therapist, 1 COTA and 1 Assistive Technology Specialist. In addition, there are 2 Clinic Service Coordinators who handle intake, authorization, and scheduling for the Clinic. We have plans to add at least one more Speech Therapist in the coming year to meet growing demand for our services. Typically there are 1-3 interns/volunteers active in the Clinic at any time.
Specific responsibilities include:
The Director will manage the daily operations of the Clinic and lead the rehab team in planning for strategic growth. Heavy emphasis on effective client care, customer satisfaction, compliance and financial sustainability.
The Director is responsible for financial management of the Clinic. This includes budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring effective billing & collections practices are in place and supporting the front office team to maintain effective intake, scheduling and authorization practices.
Another important area of responsibility includes the management and supervision of the clinical staff and volunteers. They will also ensure compliance with relevant internal policies, industry accepted standards of practice and applicable regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years progressively responsible management-level experience, with responsibility for rehabilitation therapy service lines. The ideal candidate will have worked as a Speech, Occupational or Physical Therapist.
Must have demonstrated experience in quality improvement, healthcare administration, healthcare standards and regulations, healthcare systems, strategic planning, budgeting, financial administration, continuum of care integration and client care delivery systems.
Experience with contract negotiations with vendors and institutional payors like school districts and insurance carriers.
Knowledge of healthcare terminology and Medicare regulations. Experience with healthcare billing and including reimbursement process, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems. Experience with practice management software and electronic billing processes. Knowledge/experience in JCAHO, CARF, DOH or similar certification surveys.
We also require a Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited college in a relevant field of study or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
