OMNI Institute seeks candidates for a Director of Public and Behavioral Health position. As a Director of Public and Behavioral Health you will direct applied research and evaluation projects across multiple public health content areas; provide mentorship management of research staff and teams; and build key client relationships to expand OMNI’s portfolio of work in public and behavioral health. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to individual and organizational excellence and provide quality assurance across a portfolio of projects. They will conceive of original research approaches, lead project team execution, and disseminate actionable findings for clients and communities. They will lead business development efforts by cultivating authentic client relationships, leading the development of grant proposals, and contributing as a thought leader in the field. 

Deep knowledge public and behavioral health content is required, as well as the ability to develop and execute community-led assessments, capacity building, and research/evaluation processes. Specific content expertise preferred in one of the following areas: substance use prevention, treatment or recovery; systems-level public health planning & evaluation; health equity; food security; maternal/child health; and/or homelessness. 

Key Qualifications

  • A passion for solving society's most pressing social challenges, with specific commitment to, interest in, and expertise with, public and/or behavioral health.
  • An innate curiosity with a desire to always ask more questions, look at information from a different perspective, and question how you can make something better.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, experience managing your time, and inspiring project team members on complex projects with cross-team interdependencies.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of diverse communities and employing an equitable evaluation lens throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Established client/funder relationships, significant experience in business development, and evidence of strategic thought leadership.
  • The ability to adapt, learn, and grow through your work; to hold your work and methods to high standards.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills, both written and verbal, and experience working with diverse communities, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Significant experience conducting research in an applied setting and a strong understanding of research design and methods, with preference for applied epidemiological methods.

Additional Qualifications

  • Masters level training in a social science related field with considerable experience in applied research (Doctoral level training with applied experience preferred) 
  • Applied research and evaluation experience
  • Formal training in social science research methodology and statistical analysis 
  • Content expertise in one or more of the following content areas: substance use prevention, treatment or recovery; systems-level public health planning & evaluation; health equity; food security; maternal/child health; and/or homelessness.
