About the Opportunity

B Lab is seeking a Finance Associate to support the B Lab team in a variety of important roles to keep our operations running smoothly. Key functional areas include accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting. This position will focus on customer and vendor relationships, bill management, collection of customer payments, and ensuring accounting records are accurately maintained. The Associate will be responsible for providing support to the Finance & Operations team to ensure B Lab's financial health and operational efficiency. This position will provide a unique perspective into a variety of aspects of our financial operations, allowing for growth and learning opportunities.

 

Core Job Functions

Functional responsibilities and tasks for the Finance Associate include:

Accounts Receivable

  • Invoice all B Lab customers, and record customer payments from check, wire, and credit card transactions.
  • Prepare and analyze aging of receivables, and monitor customer account details for delayed payments, non-payments, and other irregularities. Collaborate with key accounts managers to follow up on overdue payments.
  • Recognize problem accounts and assist in problem resolution and communications.

Accounts Payable

  • Process vendor bills received, ensuring all transactions are accurately documented and classified.
  • Maintain internal control documentation and continuously monitor adherence to internal controls including receiving appropriate approvals from budget leads and filing vendor invoices and receipts orderly.

Financial Reporting

  • Reconcile B Lab’s bank accounts monthly, identifying and solving any accounting discrepancies timely.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly financial reporting.
  • Maintain excellent accounting records maintaining protocols for retention, access, and storage. 
  • Support the annual audit process in conjunction with external auditors and the Manager of Accounting & Reporting.
  • Implement appropriate technology tools to improve performance and reduce inefficiencies (e.g. AIS, Salesforce).
  • Assist with ad-hoc finance, facilities, and operations requests.

About You

  • Accounting Information Systems (Quickbooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, etc.)
  • Nonprofit Organizations
  • Google Suite, or a comparable cloud-based file storage
  • Salesforce, or a comparable CRM

Compensation Details

B Lab offers a competitive compensation plan that includes:

  • An annual salary in the range of $43,200 to $48,200
  • Excellent health benefits package including access to medical, vision and dental coverage
  • Paid time off for vacation - in your first year, you’ll start with 3 weeks (prorated in a calendar year)
  • 403(b) with a match of up to 3%
  • Unlimited sick and personal time - if you need it, use it
  • After your first year of employment, 40 hours paid time off for community service; paid parental leave; and a professional development budget (we assess this PD budget annually)
