The Community Service Society (CSS), a leading organization dedicated to alleviating poverty through research, advocacy, litigation, and direct services, seeks a dynamic, detail-oriented, and tenacious Specialist for its Income Support Services Unit (ISSU). ISSU assists low-income New York City residents with rent/utility arrears and assists workforce development clients from ten partner agencies with financial supports including metro cards, work clothing, technology, food, and more through the Partnership Initiative. ISSU provides financial support and basic case management to hundreds of low-income New Yorkers annually. The ISSU Specialist is responsible for handling rental arrears and workforce development cases, data collection and reports, and provides administrative support to the ISSU Director with whom the Specialist works closely.
Job Description:
· Processing rental/utility arrears including collecting documentation required by funders and finance department, conducting intakes and basic case management with clients on Salesforce, and tracking expenditures on client tracking log
· Processing referrals for assigned workforce agencies’ financial support referrals including collecting documentation required by funders and finance department, conducting intakes and basic case management with clients on Salesforce, and tracking expenditures on client tracking log.
· Participating in bimonthly Emergency Rent Coalition meetings and report to Director
· Reconciling metro cards distributed to clients, monthly
· Assisting workforce development partners with training and technical assistance on Teams
· Scheduling meetings
· Gathering client stories for the New York Times Neediest campaign as well as for other media coverage, fundraising, policy reports, and other outlets clients as needed
· Collecting data for grants, reports, and as needed
· Processing summer camp referrals seasonally
· Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
· Fluent English/Spanish required.
· BA degree in Social Services, Public Administration, or related field required. MA in related field a plus.
· Minimum of two years of experience in human services.
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment while meeting deadlines required.
· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Proficient in Salesforce and Teams preferred.
· Experience with assisting clients with rental arrears preferred.
