About the position: 

The Senior Program Manager (SPM) role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for project management within complex projects and an interest in systems and structures that promote economic mobility. The SPM will be part of JFF’s Learning Unit, working to support the unit’s work with adult education and postsecondary education. The Learning Unit works with educators in traditional and non-traditional organizations and systems to improve the economic mobility of learners and drive more equitable outcomes across racial demographics. 

The SPM will report to the Associate Director overseeing Learning Unit programs and will work closely with others on the team to support the activities of other Learning Unit projects. They will contribute to two significant bodies of work within the Learning Unit. First, they will support work on a federal contract focused on curating and developing digital skills resources for use in adult education settings. The SPM will support overall contract management, including managing relationships with funders and partners.

In addition, the SPM will contribute to a variety of projects and initiatives that drive change across the postsecondary ecosystem. This work will include overall project management support for a range of short- and long-term projects and could also include the development of resources, reports, and materials for a variety of clients/audiences. Over time, this SPM may contribute to other key initiatives within the Learning Unit as well as contributing to projects across JFF.

What you'll do:  

Project and Program Management 

  • Partner with project leaders to monitor and evaluate project plans, tasks, resources, deadlines, and any post-project needs to accomplish project goals

·       Support daily management of programmatic operations for complex, national, multi-year initiatives, including the execution of work plans, timelines, reporting and input from external partners, and completing high-quality project deliverables

·       Prepare a variety of deliverables such as memos, reports, tools, case studies, talking points, and presentations

·       Make strategic use of knowledge management and project management tools such as Salesforce CRM, Workfront, and other similar tools

·       Work in partnership with JFF’s Fiscal Team to support budget and contract management

·       Compile and analyze data and apply it to inform program design and client engagements

Strategic Consultation and Relationship Management 

·       Build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders to support ongoing collaboration 

·       Support and participate in planning and facilitating meetings of diverse stakeholders both externally and across JFF (e.g., peer-learning meetings, technical assistance workshops, site visits, or program/policy research meetings) 

·       Facilitate and present at internal and external meetings, conferences or webinars

·       Build partnerships and seek opportunities to collaborate with staff of the Learning Unit and other teams across JFF 

Strategy and Business Development

·       Contribute to business development and fundraising in support of the Learning Unit’s strategy and networks, including managing teams responding to RFPs, budgeting support, and development of scopes of work for external partners

·       Collaborate with staff members on the Learning Unit and Development Team to edit and review proposals

Evaluation and Knowledge Management 

·       Support continuous improvement process for the design, delivery, and evaluation of the Learning Unit’s programs and products, including gathering and documenting feedback and incorporating learnings for continuous improvement. 

Who you are:  

  • You have previous  experience with grants management or project management in education, workforce, human services, or similar sectors; ideally with prior experience managing state or federal grants and contracts
  • You have a proven track record of leading complex projects that include coordination with multiple partners and/or funders.
  • You have exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to detail, with the judgment to manage competing priorities, and an ability to track and drive forward varied, fluid workstreams

·       You are a compelling facilitator who is adept at communicating with a variety of audiences, whether verbally or in writing, and who can synthesize complex information in clear and actionable ways

·       You have experience cultivating and managing relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders with various styles and levels of leadership

·       You can work quickly, both in teams and independently, and are skilled at managing both up and across   

·       You possess high energy and passion for JFF’s mission; ability to apply JFF’s core values to all areas of your work
