Reports to: Program Director

Salary: Federal Americorps Monthly Living Allowance + Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend (At the end of the 1,700 hour service term, you’ll receive an education award of $7,395* that you can use to repay student loans or put toward future education expenses.)

Job Summary:

Miami SCORES is seeking a dedicated and passionate Up2Us AmeriCorps Soccer and Writing Coach / Program Manager to support all aspects of our after-school program. The Program Manager will work closely with our students, coaches, and the Program Director to ensure the successful delivery of the America SCORES curriculum. This role is an essential part of our team, focused on helping young people develop their physical, academic, and emotional well-being.

  • Assist program staff in providing high quality youth sports development and literacy programming
  • Lead team of 16 students in soccer and literacy programming at one of Miami SCORES’ school sites
  • Assist or substitute for Miami SCORES soccer or writing coaches for practices and lessons as needed
  • Distribute and collect supplies from our school partners (uniforms, evaluations, etc.)
  • Communicate regularly with coaches at the schools to ensure program quality
  • Attend and participate in coach trainings
  • Assist with the collection and inputting of program evaluation data
  • Assist with student-centered service-learning projects throughout the community
  • Oversee game day logistics and referee soccer games
  • Assist in the planning of the Miami SCORES Cleveland Fall Frenzy, Poetry SLAM, SHOUT! Day of Service and Soccer Jamboree
  • Lead soccer camps during the summer and winter (occasionally on weekends)

Additionally, the Up2Us AmeriCorps Coach will:

  • Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport, using lessons learned at Up2Us Sports’ best in class training events
  • Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the community and youth served

Up2Us AmeriCorps Coaches must complete the following requirements to ensure successful completion of the AmeriCorps program:

  • Complete the minimum required hours of service and training by last day of coach contract
  • Attend the Up2Us Coach orientation
  • Complete bi-weekly timesheets
  • Attend a day of service
  • Attend/participate in Up2Us Sports trainings, meetings, and special initiatives
  • Coaches must wear Up2Us Sports branded t-shirts provided by Up2Us Sports with AmeriCorps logo when coaching and at program sessions and events

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • Passion for using sport as a tool to empower and inspire youth
  • Ability to commit to minimum of 1,700 hours of service September 2024 through August 2025
  • Some college/or college degree preferred
  • At least three years of experience in at least one sport; soccer experience preferred
  • Experience coaching and instructing youth programs
  • Excellent organizational ability and ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills among diverse constituents
  • Dependable, flexible, sense of humor
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use data for curriculum improvement
  • Event planning and implementation skills, especially related to youth-focused events
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies
  • Willingness to adapt and fulfill various roles as needed within the organization.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish, Haitian Creole)

  • End of Service Award: Members can choose between a (valued at approximately $7,395) to pay for a range of education expenses or a $1,800 cash stipend.

  • Monthly Transportation Stipend (TBD based on candidate’s mode of transport)
