The Corporate and Foundation Relations Associate will support the efforts of the National Archives Foundation by researching, planning approaches to, and soliciting funding from corporate and foundation sources. They will interact with National Archives curatorial and education staff to craft program-specific language for fundraising efforts, and ensure implementation of program grant and sponsorship benefits. The preferred candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a positive outlook and be able to work independently and in a small-team setting.

This position will report to the Director of Corporate and Institutional Giving and collaborate with Foundation staff as well as with National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) professional staff partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • – Develop, write, assemble, and submit proposal components to grant-making organizations, including letters of interest, a compelling and persuasive narrative, accurate budgets, and any supplemental materials;
  • – Support the stewardship of foundation and corporate donors by writing interim and final reports on deadline and collecting and compiling the necessary collateral material for sponsorship fulfillment packages;
  • – Meet with National Archives staff to monitor and support program and donor recognition implementation and compile program statistics;
  • – Manage and steward a growing portfolio of corporate and foundation donors supporting education programs at the National Archives and the Records of Achievement Award Ceremony and Gala;
  • – Lead tours for donors and prospects as needed and assist with more complex tour programs, such as Tauck, when required;
  • – Ensure the maintenance of corporate donor profiles and gift information in Raisers’ Edge and electronic files;
  • – Assist with staffing evening Corporate and Foundation-led events as needed;
  • – Serve as staff support for the Development department, assisting team members as needed. Provide courteous, professional and effective customer service via phone, email, and on-site.


  • – Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years related experience in fundraising, preferably in grant writing and/or corporate relations;
  • – Experience with researching and writing donor briefings, grant proposals and solicitation materials;
  • – Exceptional organizational and analytical skills;
  • – Superior oral communication skills, including facility interacting directly and personally with members, donors, and the public;
  • – Comfortable with deadline-driven responsibilities and the capacity to handle multiple priorities at once;
  • – Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays (particularly 4th of July);
  • – Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus;
  • – A strong interest in American history, civic engagement, and/or museums is a plus.
