The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is looking for an enthusiastic team member to support growth in our major gifts program. The Portfolio Gift Specialist will serve as a critical support to our fundraising program, specifically providing administrative and fundraising support to MFB’s executive team in their outreach to the organization’s most strategic donors and prospects.

 

This position will help manage the portfolios of the CEO, Executive Vice President, and Senior Vice President of Development in Raiser’s Edge NXT, ensuring data integrity and keeping donor-centric activities, opportunities and actions up to date. This position will help to support proposal and material development, provide data entry support, and manage solicitor assignments. Outreach to major donors also encompasses tasks including schedule management and other administrative functions. Finally, the Portfolio Gift Specialist will also contribute to the major gifts program by assisting in other donor services functions as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide data-driven administrative fundraising support to members of MFB’s Senior Team (listed above) as well as other MFB leadership staff as needed
  • Manage and support donor outreach as well as track pipeline progress and donor activity
  • Schedule internal and external meetings and manage active donor appointments
  • Prepare and proactively share materials, create customized proposals, solicitation letters and stewardship reports
  • Assist with donor stewardship correspondence, data entry, and general data health
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the EVP, Programs & External Affairs

 

Experience

  • The candidate must be tech-savvy and be an avid learner with a keen interest in data management, fundraising, nonprofit management, and donor relations
  • 1-2 years experience with Raiser’s Edge or another constituent-focused database is preferred
  • At least one year of experience of administrative, customer service or development work is required
  • At least one year of experience with Moves Management process or pipeline progression experience, including pipeline development and measuring success preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management or a related field required

 

 

Qualifications

  • Must communicate effectively and have excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and external donor relations
  •  Excels in project management: multi-tasking, goal setting, accountability and workload prioritization
  • Ability to manage up across different staff levels to bring projects to completion
  • A keen eye for and attention to detail is essential
  • An ability to work seamlessly with executive staff and high net-worth donors is required
  • Must be able to easily combine data and analysis while ensuring excellent relationship management
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required, advanced Excel is a bonus
  • Knowledge of virtual meeting protocol and set-up. Experience with Zoom preferred
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion
  • Interest in fundraising best practices for major giving programs
