The ArtsCenter is looking for a Director of Education who possesses big picture thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, and an enthusiastic approach to using all the arts to capture the hearts and minds of our aspiring artists.

Organizationally, this position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of all The ArtsCenter’s education curriculum for youth and adult programming. This includes strategic planning, the oversight of current programs, the development of new programs, and assessment measures to ensure alignment with programmatic goals. This position is also responsible for scholarship outreach, budgeting, and personnel management. This is a full-time, year-round salaried position with benefits that reports to the Deputy Director. Salary range is $41,000-$46,000 per year, depending upon experience.


Responsibilities: The tasks listed below describe the general nature and level of work performed. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required.


Program Design:

·        Design annual ArtsCamp curriculum for elementary school aged youth, and Summer Youth Workshops for middle school and high school students during school district summer break

·        Design AfterSchool Arts Immersion (AAI) programs for elementary school aged youth during the school year

·        Conduct outreach to develop relationships with school districts and external organizations to foster programmatic collaboration focusing on reaching out to underserved youth

·        Develop and implement curriculum planning for ArtSchool. Work with ArtSchool faculty to clearly define the skill levels of classes and provide paths for advancement for adult students.

·        Create a consistent set of policies and initiatives for programs to be shared with staff, instructors, and parents  

·        Develop annual long-term program goals and methods of assessment to measure the success of program offerings

·        Model and promote a commitment of diversity, equity and inclusion into The ArtsCenter’s education programming internally and externally


Administration/Personnel Management:

·        Recruit, train, schedule, and oversee instructors and teen counselors. Manage contracts, statements of work and background checks for instructors and counselors.

·        Manage communication with parents, artists and counselors around programming

·        Process all requisite paperwork related to registration, enrollment, exchanges and refunds, track income, expenses and enrollment. Identify areas for process improvement to streamline operational efficiencies

·        Create and monitor program budgets


Marketing/ Development:

·        Work with Marketing Director to create and implement marketing plan, design ArtsCamp & ArtSchool brochures and social media promotional programs and ensure all programmatic information and availability is up to date on website

·        Partner with Development Director to cultivate funding opportunities from foundations, governmental agencies, and individual donations and to report progress on funding objectives and goals


Director of Education Requirements:

§ A passion for the arts and working with youth and adult learners

§ Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field

§ Previous teaching experience and or youth development experience

§ Collaborative team player

§ A high degree of emotional intelligence, self-motivation and organizational skills

§ Leadership and supervisory skills

§ Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management systems.
