StoryCorps’ mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. Since our founding in 2003, StoryCorps has provided half a million of people of all backgrounds and beliefs with powerful opportunities to record interviews about their lives, and leave a legacy for future generations in our archive at the Library of Congress. We bring these interviews to life in stories produced for broadcast on public media (including our weekly Friday morning broadcast on NPR’s “Morning Edition"), our podcast, and/or our animations. Together, these stories reach an audience of tens of millions. StoryCorps maintains a relentless focus on diversity, and seeks to highlight voices often underrepresented in mainstream media. While our stories honor and celebrate the diversity of humankind, they also remind us of the many values and experiences we share in common, building bridges of greater understanding.

Our work has been widely recognized with several George Foster Peabody Awards, a MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, the 2015 TED Prize, and a 2016 Emmy award for our animation “Traffic Stop.”

StoryCorps’ Corporate Partnerships Department is responsible for significantly growing corporate revenue through sponsorship, grants, earned income services, matching gifts, and in-kind donations, to support StoryCorps' core programs.

The Manager plays an important role in StoryCorps’ efforts to build and sustain income from the corporate sector. As the manager, you will develop and maintain relationships with external corporate partners, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of sponsorship, marketing, and custom services deliverables.

StoryCorps records, shares, and preserves stories from a diverse range of American voices — from our Griot Initiative to preserve stories of African Americans, to our Historias Initiative to collect the experiences of Latinos. We also seek to recruit and develop a staff whose diversity matches the diversity of the communities we serve, and we strongly encourage applications from people of color and the LGBTQ community.


  • Support the Managing Director of Corporate Partnerships in securing annual corporate revenue goals
  • Write and edit presentations, proposals, reports, and other correspondence, as assigned
  • Conduct prospect research as assigned and identify new potential sponsors for StoryCorps’ various programs, campaigns, and special events
  • Liaise with corporate clients and internal departments to manage and keep sponsorship, marketing, and custom deliverables on track
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications department to aid in improving and expanding the team’s marketing efforts as well as to provide support on potential corporate cause-marketing efforts 
  • Ensure the satisfaction of external clients, working promptly and resourcefully to resolve any issues, and maintain relationships with past clients
  • Support the department’s relationship with the NPR sponsorship sales team by providing regular updates about StoryCorps’ programming and tracking broadcast and podcast sponsor deliverables as needed
  • Respond to web and phone inquiries from corporations, as needed
  • Manage and organize records in the department’s shared drive, including call notes, research, contracts, and deliverable tracking sheets
  • Input, track data, and pull reports from the department’s customer relationship management database (Salesforce)
  • Perform other duties to support the Corporate Partnerships department, as assigned


  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • You also have 4 years minimum experience in nonprofit development, sales and marketing, corporate social responsibility, project management, or similarly related field
  • You live in the greater New York or Chicago area.
  • You are computer savvy, especially with Microsoft Office, Google applications and video conferencing software
  • You know how to communicate effectively – whether that’s by email, phone or in person  
  • You are no stranger to providing excellent customer service and you’ve worked in a public facing role in the past.
  • You have strong problem-solving skills
  • You are able to self-direct in completing work
  • You’re organized, have a keen attention to detail, and you’re able to multi-task effectively
  • You are flexible and adaptable to a growing, changing organization 
  • You have cultural competence and the ability to thrive in a diverse work environment


  • You are proficient on Mac platforms and with relationship management database software
  • You are fluent in a language other than English (Spanish preferred)
