Hudson Guild has an exciting new position for an Education Specialist to help build the quality of our afterschool program serving over 200 students in grades K through 8. Offering a safe, healthy and enriching environment, this program increases young people’s opportunities to have fun and explore interests while developing lifelong skills through experiential learning. We’re looking for an individual passionate about improving out-of-school time for youth to oversee the implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of a high quality program.

The ideal candidate excels at building strong relationships with staff and students, is well-versed in data-informed programming, and has experience training others to improve overall program quality.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Under the Supervision of the Director of Evaluation and Quality, and in collaboration with the Youth Development and Education Department, the Education Specialist will be responsible for guiding the design, implementation, and monitoring of instructional programming for children in Hudson Guild’s SchoolBridge K-8 programming. The Education Specialist will enhance the quality of SchoolBridge programming by building staff capacity, ensuring effective curriculum implementation, and overseeing student assessment and data-driven programming. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MA in Education or related field with at least 3 years of experience working with youth and children in an educational or community based setting. Experience training and/or coaching staff in implementing activities with students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Professional Teaching Certification in NYS. Supervisory experience; Fluent in verbal and written Spanish language. CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) certification or willingness to obtain it.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in ongoing research and provide expertise in chosen and potential curriculum
  • Create scope and sequence for each content area aligned to standards
  • Design and implement processes for lesson planning and implementation, including lesson plan templates
  • Design and provide individual and group professional development sessions to staff
  • Provide ongoing individual or small-group coaching to staff
  • Evaluate the achievement of program and participant outcomes through the use of assessment tools
  • Based on evaluation data, provide and support implementation of recommendations for ongoing quality improvement
  • Manage standardized data collection processes and provide ongoing monitoring of data validity
  • Develop and administer quality and outcome reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure that the program meets contractual regulations
  • Participate in program and agency wide professional development
  • Participate in community-building activities sponsored by program and agency and encourage participants to support these activities
  • Other related duties as assigned
