The Development Coordinator will report to the Director of Development, New England and be responsible for providing administrative support for all fundraising efforts in the New England market, including culinary events, individual giving activities, and special events and projects. The Development Coordinator will work closely with staff, volunteer leaders, chefs, donors, and donor prospects to support a dynamic and growing program. The role will require travel, irregular hours, and communication with volunteers outside regular business hours.

This position is based in either Boston, Massachusetts, or Washington, DC. 

 

  • Maintain event tracking reports, the Major Gifts pipeline, and market budget workbooks to ensure accurate budgeting and projection processes.
  • Maintain a master calendar of deadlines for proposals, reports and other funding-related materials, and ensure timely internal review and submission.
  • Responsible for event logistics and operations: ensure correct event collateral, day-of event revenue reporting and post-event reports, event outreach, guest lists, registration, volunteers, and live and silent auctions.
  • Ensure that information regarding Major Gifts, events contacts, and prospects is captured for the database.
  • Coordinate and execute cultivation and stewardship mailing to prospective and current donors, and oversee coordination of major donor outreach efforts.
  • Research prospective fundraising sources and prepare documentation and materials for meetings and presentations as necessary.
  • Manage communications processes for event websites, regional emails, and social media.
  • Responsible for event logistics and operations: ensure correct event collateral, day-of event revenue reporting and post-event reports, event outreach, guest lists, registration, volunteers, and live and silent auctions.
  • Manage and coordinate master mailings lists for regional markets and all fundraising events, as well as a timely acknowledgement process for donors, sponsors, and chefs.
  • Cultivate new and maintain existing relationships with local donors, chefs, mixologists, and auction and in-kind donors by ensuring proactive and effective communication.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in a professional work environment.
  • Experience with identifying and targeting potential new fundraising supporters.
  • Familiarity with budgeting.
  • Ability to manage multi-faceted projects and to perform well independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Very strong interpersonal, intercultural, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working on concurrent projects and activities with poise and professionalism.
  • Excellent information management, organizational, and analytical skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter with a demonstrated high level of reliability and follow-through.
  • Enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and a demonstrated passion for Share Our Strength's mission.
  • Experience with a fundraising database (Raisers Edge preferred), and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Willing and able to travel (about ~20%).
  • Ability to lift 30lbs.
