The Adult Literacy Program provides ESOL classes to immigrant adults in New York City. The ESOL Teacher will teach and monitor ESOL classes.
What You Will Be Doing:
• Teach and monitor ESOL classes (classes will begin online and then continue in person according to city and state guidelines)
• Assign and administer exams
• Teach basic computer skills and regularly use technology in the classroom
• Regularly use class texts and supplemental materials
• Maintain attendance and performance records
• Follow and enforce program policies and rules
• Attend a minimum of 14 hours of professional development and attend staff meetings
What We Are Looking For:
• You have a B.A. Degree in TESOL, English, or TESOL certificate
• You have 2+ years’ experience in teaching ESOL
• Experience with online teaching including Zoom (or similar video conferencing platform) and G Suite
Hours:
• P/T 10 hours per week: 7.5 hours of instruction (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6:30pm-9:00pm) plus 2.5 hours prep, training, and professional development.
• Must commit to teaching classes from September through June.
