The Texas Civil Rights Project (“TCRP”) seeks an Institutional Partnerships Manager dedicated to overseeing the organization’s corporate and foundation partners.

As part of the Community Engagement Department, this position will be tasked primarily with the identification, cultivation, development, management, and stewardship of institutional partners for the organization in hopes of further diversifying TCRP’s revenue streams and cultivating enduring partnerships that span multiple years.

This position will start as soon as possible and be based in TCRP’s office in Austin, Texas. As a member of the Community Engagement team, this position will participate in weekly department meetings and work with other members of the team but will be managed primarily by the Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Overview of Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities are listed below.

Grant Writing and Management:

·        Serve as the primary writer on all grant proposals, requests, and reports to foundations and corporate donors in collaboration with the organizational leadership and program staff;

·        Manage the grant submission process, working in close collaboration with organizational leadership and program staff, including but not limited to: editing and finalizing of letters of inquiry and proposals, tracking submission status, and reporting award status and next steps to organizational leadership;

·        Develop, maintain, and continually update an annual Institutional Partnerships Calendar for letters of inquiry, proposals, and reporting; and

·        Work with Community Engagement team and program staff to maintain accurate and dynamic information for funder communications and stewardship.

Institutional Partnerships Cultivation, Solicitation, & Stewardship:

·        Research and identify a pipeline of prospective corporate and foundation partners by researching and identifying new grant prospects and funding opportunities;

·        Work closely with the President and Director of Strategic Partnerships in developing engagement strategies for current and potential institutional donors including calls, digital and hard copy updates, one-on-one meetings, key donor convenings and other in-person opportunities;

·        Prepare the President, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and other members of the Leadership Team, as appropriate, for key interactions with current and potential institutional donors, including creating briefing documents and talking points in advance of meetings; recommending agendas for meeting and donor calls; and creating materials for donor interactions;

·        Representing TCRP, where appropriate, in meetings and events with current and potential institutional donors; and

·        Draft and issue grant receipt acknowledgements.

Data Management:

·        Manage the organization’s community engagement database in relation to institutional partners and Partnerships including but not limited to: maintaining up to date partner contact data, tracking interactions with institutional partners, ensuring that all submitted letters of inquiry/proposals, grant agreements, reporting and other support materials are uploaded and kept up to date; and

·        Working closely with TCRP’s Finance and Operations department on a regular basis to effectively communicate incoming grant information and track spending related to ongoing grants; this includes closely monitoring expected funds, restrictions, timeline, and reporting requirements.

Ideal candidates would have the following characteristics:

  • Degree in Communications, Non – Profit Management, Law or a related field; post-graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the non-profit sector within the fields of Development, Communications, Legal Advocacy, or Community Engagement
  • Strong grasp of social justice issues that TCRP seeks to address; specific experience/expertise in the fields of voting rights, criminal justice reform, immigrant rights and/or racial justice a strong plus
  • An effective communicator with excellent writing and editing skills
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality and track record of being a team player who can work with a diverse group of colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Experience in and demonstrated understanding of the importance of donor relations and stewardship
  •  Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines and effectively pivot from one to the next
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and organization
  • Experience with customer relationship software or similar volunteer database technology
  • Passion for progressive values & advocacy
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and extended hours when necessary


Salary will be based on years and type of experience and is competitive within the nonprofit market in Central Texas. TCRP also offers excellent benefits, professional development opportunities and a deep commitment to a meaningful work-life balance. Benefits include: employer-paid health insurance, four weeks paid vacation, six weeks paid family leave (with avenues to extend leave to 12 weeks in total), a $500 professional development budget annually, and extensive holidays, including a winter break between December 25th and New Year’s Day.
