Job Description:

The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) is seeking a Scientific Project Manager for Neuroscience to guide the conduct of major research partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including biopharmaceutical companies, healthcare not-for-profit partners, government, and academic scientists. The Project Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of specific research initiatives in CNS disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, autism spectrum disorders and major depressive disorder. Duties involve guiding scientific project meetings, managing logistics, timelines, and budgets, as well as other related activities. Work will be conducted under supervision of the Scientific Program Manager - Neuroscience at the FNIH offices located in Bethesda, Maryland.


This is a non-research, administrative management position requiring excellent interpersonal and writing skills, a high level of organization, diplomacy, focus, ability to work under tight deadlines, and familiarity with biomedical research environments.


Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their strong qualifications in:

  • Managing scientific or clinical research projects, including coordinating and facilitating cross-functional scientific or project team meetings
  • Assisting in the development and management of grants/contracts, including evaluation and refinement of statements of work, project budgets, and milestones;
  • Completion of written reports and preparation of meeting minutes and summaries;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Ideal candidates will be able to show:

  • A BSc or higher-level degree is required with 3+ years of relevant project management and data science environment experience (Project Management Certification or consulting experience is a plus)
  • Database development and management for large-scale scientific datasets including clinical, genomic, proteomic and metabolomic data (including identification and evaluation of issues related to large dataset comparisons)
  • Familiarity with data-driven programming is highly desirable
  • Understanding of cloud computing and machine learning systems is preferred 
  • Background in genomics and genetics is desirable
  • Ability to monitor progress, proactively identify potential problems, and work with teams to fill gaps in capacity
  • Ability to learn quickly, and make decisions independently in order to meet tight deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical and organizational skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and initiative when working with others
