The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Development Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team located on Chicago's Museum Campus.

The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Membership and Annual Giving, The Development Operations Specialist will be the Adler’s Raiser’s Edge expert, continuously working to improve the institutions ability to raise funds, communicate with donors and members, and track giving.

This person will be responsible for ensuring data integrity and quality control of the database, proper documentation of Development activities, and generating regular reports for the Development, Membership and Accounting teams. They look for opportunities to improve, automate, and anticipate reporting needs while collaborating with a team of incredibly talented professionals.

  • Fulfilling data requests from team members, including mailing lists, revenue reports, and other reports as needed
  • Developing queries and reports necessary to generate and distribute regular financial, analytical, statistical, and demographic reports; interpreting results of analyses for use in reports and presentations
  • Entering gift data and ensuring that all pledge, gift, and donor record information is processed accurately and on a timely basis; conducting research as necessary
  • Establishing standard operating procedures for data entry, reporting, and policies to ensure data integrity
  • Working with other departments to produce regular financial reports and reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and streamlining data imports and exports

The Person

We’re looking for a fundraising database professional who is excited about the opportunity to define processes, use data to inform decisions, and take on new challenges. This is a person who is able to strategize, set and meet goals, be proactive, and who has meticulous attention to detail in the completion of tasks. Someone who has excellent communication and project management skills. This person will need to have the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment, and is flexible—happy to work autonomously or on a team in an organization of tremendously talented people.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Three years of high level experience working in Raiser's Edge, including experience generating Raiser's Edge custom reports and queries
  • Highly proficient in Google Suite and Raiser's Edge
  • Experience directly supporting a Development Team in a reporting and analytics role (strongly preferred)
