About Hope-Net

           Founded in 1988 by a group of faith-based congregations, Hope-Net is a registered 501(c)(3) that supports 13 food pantries operating in Hollywood, Koreatown, Silver Lake and Los Feliz. Its motto, “Because none of our neighbors should go hungry;” captures two essential features of Hope-Net: (i) a focus on delivery of food and meals, not just to the homeless, but equally to the working poor and their families; and (ii) the geographic focus that encompasses the congregations that founded it. Hope-Net facilitates the delivery of over 1 million meal-equivalents per year. For additional information, please see www.hopenetla.org.

           Hope-Net’s current Executive Director is leaving, creating an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and committed individual with an interest in actively operating non-profit. Hope-Net is structured in a lean manner to allow the vast majority of funds to support its mission. Accordingly, the successful candidate should anticipate being the sole full-time employee, or managing a small staff .

Potential candidates should:

1.     Be mature and have at least five years of leadership at a non-profit organization;

2.     Have earned a Bachelor’s degree, M.S.W. or have equivalent knowledge and experience;

3.     Have strong organization abilities and a commitment to follow-up and complete projects;

4.     Be self-motivated and have a demonstrated track record in leading fundraising efforts;

5.     Be generally financially and computer literate (including Excel competency);

6.     Be able to inform and inspire the Board of Directors and the broader community and to communicate Hope-Net’s mission and needs in a compelling manner;

7.     Be able to work collaboratively with congregational pantry leaders and in a leadership capacity with volunteers; and

8.     Be dedicated to serving our neighbors in need.

9.     Experience promoting a mission driven organization via social media platforms and website management preferred.

The Executive Director’s duties are broad and consistent with managing a lean and effective community resource. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the agency, including but not limited to fundraising to ensure necessary financial resources, financial oversight, agency marketing and public relations, compliance with grant and partner agency regulations, operations, volunteer leadership, and office operations.

Specifically, the Executive Director’s duties include:

Financial Management. The Executive Director is responsible for developing financial resources—through grants, donations and other fund-raising—sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization, and, in that regard, is responsible for:

· the fiscal integrity of Hope Net, including submitting to the Board a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements that accurately reflect Hope-Net’s financial condition;

· fiscal management that operates within the approved budget, optimizes resource utilization, and maintains Hope-Net’s financial health; and

· fundraising and soliciting the resources to implement Hope Net’s mission.

Mission Operations. The Executive Director is responsible for managing Hope-Net’s operations, which includes:

· pantry oversight, including visitations, meetings, and volunteer training;

· ensuring that pantries operate according to guidelines set by Hope-Net’s partner agencies; and · the acquisition and distribution of food from the LA Food Bank and other channels.

· communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for the Board to make informed decisions; and

· helping find and develop qualified Board members.

Salary to be determined based on qualifications and experiences, but to include health.
