Job Description

This is a part-time contract position (20-24 hours/week). Pay scale is dependent on education and experience.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Program Services, the Grant Writer will execute strategies for solicitation of projects. This individual will also be expected to work independently and to be self-motivated in researching and writing grant proposals. He/she will also be expected to work in a collegial manner with the organizational team in creating and implementing strategies for grant support.

Primary Responsibilities

· Conduct prospect research on corporate, government and private foundations and other grant-making organizations

· Develop and write grant proposals, reports and correspondence and generate related support materials that persuasively communicates the LRG’s mission and programs to potential funders;

· Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner and assist in project management of grants to ensure deliverables are met;

· Track proposal deadlines, status and results by maintaining Master Grants List;

· Maintain foundation, government and corporate donor files;

· Create monthly grant reports and other database reports as needed;

· Liaise and engage with potential stakeholders to assist in funding projects

· And other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Programs

Preparation and Knowledge

· Bachelor’s degree, master’s a plus

· A minimum of three years writing grants and/or proposals, etc. for a non-profit organization

· Ability to coordinate and collaborate with team members

· Knowledge of grants tracking and management

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and donor databases

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing

· Strong organizational skills and prioritization of work

· Ability to work independently

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Sense of humor
