SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Development & Communications Coordinator is responsible for the creation and implementation of efforts focused on fundraising, social media, e-mail marketing, print media, and organizational communications. The person will report directly to the Executive Director and will work with Board and other volunteers on events and projects. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to prioritize and work efficiently are vital attributes for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

DEVELOPMENT DUTIES

• Serve as primary steward of our donor database (Salesforce and Classy); update records; serve as organizational subject matter expert and administrator on donor database software.

• Process donations and generate timely acknowledgements for all gifts

• Work with Finance staffer to reconcile pledges and receivables

• Organize and coordinate annual giving campaigns

• Cultivate. Solicit & steward individual donors; create and maintain relationships; develop opportunities for donors to engage with NAMI Eastside

• Produce effective electronic and print communications for events, including invitation collateral, sponsorship packages, informational materials, and gift/pledge cards

• Create and coordinate sponsorship recognition and benefits, including social media, signage, print media, website updates, and other materials

• Support the Executive Director in strategic planning and event calendaring

• Support development, planning, management, implementation, and follow-up for all fundraising activities, including the creation and execution of social media campaigns.

COMMUNICATIONS

• Develop and execute an annual Communications Plan

• Compose & produce weekly mental health electronic newsletters in MailChimp

• Compose & produce monthly program updates in MailChimp

• Support monthly programs emails in MailChimp; Manage MailChimp subscriptions

• Manage social media platforms – Facebook (Meta), Instagram, and LinkedIn; Create and share content in line with NAMI Eastside branding

• Coordinate overall branding strategy and support the organization in production of flyers, signage, and other promotional materials.

• Track metrics related to communication efforts

• Maintain and update website as needed

• Support Executive Director on creating and producing the Annual Report

• Support staff on planning & executing events such as the annual Membership Meeting

• Work with program staff to collect and promote success stories and testimonials

• Coordinate public relations for events, accomplishments, and requests for support through the preparation and dissemination of press releases and social media

• Manage US postal mail delivery and info@nami-eastside.org mailbox

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

• Prior experience in fundraising & development is required. Experience with a fundraising database is required. Salesforce, Classy, and Excel experience is preferred. Familiarity with Canva for content creation is preferred. Familiarity with Mailchimp is desired.

• Commitment to the organizational mission is essential, with the ability to respond appropriately to persons with mental health conditions.

• Demonstrated proficiency with diverse technology platforms, programs, and services, including Microsoft Office and associated products.

• Demonstrated ability to work well with others and take initiative

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work is hybrid during the Pandemic. Our office is in Redmond, Washington. The mix of remote and in-person work will be determined with the Executive Director.

• Flexible work schedule for 40 hours per week

• Fast-paced work environment with a focus on employee well-being

• Ability to work well within cross-functional teams with a mix of staff and volunteers

• Office environment has moderate noise levels from standard office equipment and conversations; occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds; regular walking, sitting, bending; ability to perform consistent work on PC and videoconferencing is required (Zoom and Teams).
