Founded in 1982 as the world’s first food rescue organization, City Harvest is dedicated to helping to feed the nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put meals on their tables. We will rescue 144 million pounds of food this year and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community partners across the five boroughs. Our programs help food-insecure New Yorkers access nutritious food that fits their needs and desires; increase our partners’ capacity; and strengthen the local food system, building a path to a food-secure future for all New Yorkers. 

 The IT team manages all of the technology that supports City Harvest’s operations and serves as a resource to empower each department to innovate and improve the way they do their jobs. Reporting to the CFAO, the IT Director plans, coordinates, and directs all functions and all activities of the IT department – including but not limited to infrastructure, security, system administration, network engineering, user satisfaction, asset governance, and strategic direction. The IT Director is responsible for the infrastructure oversight of all technical operations including coordination with RSM who we outsource the helpdesk and other IT functions.  As the Director of IT, you will provide leadership and vision on the day-to-day IT operations, as well as a number of important IT-related projects, while working alongside the Business Intelligence Department on strategic changes to software, systems, and processes improvement initiatives.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·      The IT team manages the technology infrastructure that supports City Harvest

·      Develop, execute and manage day-to-day, annual, and long-term IT plans 

·      Lead an effective IT team of both in-house and outsourced professionals. 

o  Including Help Desk planning, troubleshooting, documentation, resource allocation & escalation protocols. 

o  Manage RSM resources and subject matter experts to ensure timely resolution and visioning for future maintenance and evolving the environment.

·      Create the process to manage and oversee the implementation and maintenance of all technology architecture and systems including servers, wired and wireless networks, backup, staff devices, software, printers and peripherals, remote access VPNs, VoIP phones, information security, web content filtering, and data warehousing 

·      Establish, administer, and communicate policies, document procedures, and craft strategic goals for IT  

·      Supervise troubleshooting responses for any technical issues, including connectivity, computer hardware and software, printers, and applications, utilizing our helpdesk ticketing system 

·      Partnering with Business Intelligence, work with all departments to establish IT-related needs and then establish priorities for systems design and implementation of new and/or modified systems. Develop schedules and milestones to track the progress of technology implementation. Assess and recommend technology and consultant solutions 

·      Administer IT purchasing and asset management and negotiate agreements and manage relationships and contracts with IT vendors, consultants, and suppliers 

·      Develop and manage annual IT budgets and oversee grant processes and implementation 

·      Create training materials and presentations to support such as: 

o  Rolling out new features to overarching Microsoft Suite of products 

o  Onboarding new staff 

o  New business processes for asset requests 

  

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Solid understanding of computer systems, networks, security, telecommunications, databases, and storage systems 
  • Detail-oriented. Excellent time management skills and the ability to deliver work on assigned schedules. 
  • Must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and leadership. 
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels in a demanding environment. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  Demonstrated ability to act decisively and independently to resolve complex issues.  
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees. 
  • Microsoft Azure Administration 
  • o  Deploying and configuring virtual networks 
  • o  Microsoft Hiper-V and VMware vSphere 
  • o  Deployment and management of VMs 
  • o  Monitor resources’ health 
  • o  Storage and Backups Management 
  • o  Security Management 
  • o  AD Management 
  • o  PowerShell knowledge 
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Administration including Office 365 and Sharepoint. 
  • Microsoft InTune Administration. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and expertise in relevant areas  
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in information technology, information systems, computer science with at least 5 years of supervisory/management experience. 
  • 5+ years of team management experience leading, motivating, and developing a team. 
  • Ideally have Microsoft (Azure) and/or Cisco certifications for Systems Administration.
