Transportation Specialist Lead

$2,885.00 bi-weekly BA or higher

This position serves as a member of the MSHS Central Office team to provide oversight and support for transportation services for all Migrant Seasonal Head Start services in all regions and states. Works to support systems integration of content area specialist leads that support activities and design tools and systems for effective practice. Implements a process of ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement for achieving program goals and works to strengthen overall program quality and service delivery. Works closely with NIM Lead Site Manager, Site Managers, assigned CDI Content Area Specialist Leads, Regional Program Directors and regional content area teams to communicate and coordinate ongoing issues and needs within each region and allocate resources and develop capacity to address critical priorities. This position is responsible for the transportation content area as stated in the Head Start Program Performance Standards Part 1303- Subpart F and all sub-regulations relating to serving migrant and seasonal children and families. This includes working to develop the overall operation of the Head Start/Early Head Start transportation program ensuring the safe and efficient transport of children and parents/families between program activities and home and on field trips. The position ensures that the transportation services are supported by staff with appropriate training, credentials and experience in the area of transportation. The position ensures program wide compliance with licenses, insurance, inspections and that other required permits are maintained to comply with all local, state and federal regulations, including the appropriate licensing of drivers; monitoring a mandatory safety-sensitive (DOT drug-testing) program; hiring, training, supervising and evaluating drivers; and determining and monitoring bus routes. In addition, this position oversees any vehicle leasing and/or transportation contracts; arranges for cost-effective vehicle maintenance agreements with vendors.

Minimum requirement is an associates degree in Logistic Management, Transportation, Business Administration or related field with experience developing and overseeing systems such as transportation in a business or academic setting.
