The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in implementing and tracking key aspects of HOPE’s events, programs and initiatives.  Supports the implementation of HOPE’s community engagement strategies, working with the Community Engagement team. Implements marketing, and recruitment plans to increase the number of participants, and affiliates engaged with HOPE and its events. Primary staff responsible for the registration of individuals attending

HOPE’s conferences and events.  Supports the outreach to local elected officials, community leaders, HOPE’s affiliates, and alumnae.  Tracks and inputs evaluation data and sends out key communication to HOPE’s stakeholders.  Provides support to all of HOPE’s efforts and programs as assigned and needed.

Supports the planning and execution of Latina Empowerment Day conference series and Latina History Day.  Implements marketing plans that increase registration at conferences. Supports relationships with key nonprofit partners and affiliates. Designs and oversees registration at conferences, and events. Recruits and supervises interns and volunteers at conferences.

Develops materials, correspondence and reports for conference sponsors, volunteers and vendors. Supports communication with sponsors. Coordinates supplies and materials needed for conferences and events. Responds to initial inquiries from public regarding conferences and events.

Assists in the execution of the community engagement team’s goals and work plan. Tracks HOPE’s affiliates and alumnae relationships and inputs key information on HOPE’s database.

Coordinates regional briefings, and roundtables including working with vendors, online and onsite registration. Performs other programmatic and administrative duties as assigned. Maintain accurate filing system and overall organization of conference and events files.  

Provides support to Friends of HOPE donor recruitment campaign (membership drive, individual donors ask). Tracks key sponsors’ deliverables and provides administrative support to team.

Programs and Conferences:

·     Supports the communication to conference committees, volunteers, sponsors and

key stakeholders.  Includes thank you letters, invitations, and reports.

·          Supports Latina Empowerment Days and Latina History Day planning and implementation ·       Recruits and oversees volunteers.

·          Supports Community engagement team to ensure all the logistics for training sessions

and programs meet HOPE’s standards and goals.

Publications:

·         Supports  briefings highlighting HOPE’s reports and policy agenda

·          Creates key community engagement reports (number of people served, evaluations)

Administrative:

·          Inputs and tracks evaluations

·          Supports the Community Engagement team

·      Tracks cost and develops expense reports  for the programs and outreach of the Community Engagement team(Latina History Day, regional roundtables/briefings, Latina Empowerment Day(s) etc)

·       Support fundraising efforts and completes projects as assigned

Organizes mass mailings to stakeholder; must have good writing and editing skills.

  Qualification Requirements

Years/Type of Expr: Entry level position.  Past work experience in event coordination and administrative duties is a plus.

Education: BA required.  Undergraduate degree in political science, communications or liberal arts is a plus.

Fluent in Spanish is valued but not needed.

Relationships - Works Closely with (Internal): Community Engagement Senior Manager and the Community Engagement Director

Interacts with (External): Shareholders, Politicians, Political Staffers, Non-profit organizations, and vendors

Technical Skills:

Software / database : Microsoft Office Salesforce, Zoom, Eventbrite, and other virtual platforms

Specialized Training/Knowledge: Possess basic business skills including knowledge of contracts, accounting, and demonstrated ability to negotiate with vendors.

Other Considerations

Percent of Travel: 30% moderate intra-state travel; Access to Confidential Information. This position may work from home for 3 days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) and work from the Los Angeles office two days out of the week (Wednesday and Thursday). Schedules may change due to Covid-19 and the need of the organization.

Work Environment: HOPE is a fast pace and collaborative work environment. HOPE in October, 2021 will experiment with a hybrid work from home and HOPE Los Angeles Office. Staff will be expected to be in the office on Wednesday and Thursday and work from home Friday, Monday and Wednesday.

Salary

USD 20 - USD 26This is a non-exempt position that ranges in $20 - $28 an hour
