The Virtual Learning Manager oversees all aspects of Healthier Generation’s virtual training strategy, including training needs analysis, creation and promotion of the virtual training portfolio, staff training on virtual learning and resource design and delivery, and quality intiatives for eLearning. S/he serves as the lead for the development, administration, and evaluation of all virtual training products, including live virtual events, on demand webinars and videos, curricula, and supporting materials and resources. In addition, this position will work with internal stakeholders to coordinate the collection and review of virtual learning datasets that inform member engagement strategies.


  •  Support the development and execution of Healthier Generation’s overall strategy in delivering high quality professional development through online learning modalities, including supportive resources and calls-to-action that align with grant deliverables
  • Assess and prioritize organizational needs to design and deliver an array of effective and targeted virutal learning opportunities, including but not limited to: live virtual trainings, on-demand trainings, webinars, virtual conferences, tutorials and online courses.
  • Plan, implement and manage the virtual training development process including instructional design and quality product design review and assurance, using a portfolio of delivery platforms to encourage active participation and learner engagement.
  • Support staff professional development relating to best practices in virtual training design and facilitation. 
  • Create and implement a learning resource creation and management process, including: quality control and branding consistency, review and approval, tracking and monitoring, and internal and external promotion.
  • Implement instructional strategies to remain competitive in the delivery of virtual training; works with the Technology Team to research and recommend emerging technologies and their application to teaching and learning.
  • Build, promote and maintain relationships with distance learning organizations, universities and colleges, and other professional organizations across the nation to broaden virtual professional development opportunities that foster programmatic engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop, execute and maintain promotional strategies and a system of measurement on usage, efficacy and impact of online learning opportunities.
  • Provide technical assistance through all aspects of the learning experience: instructor led, blended, technical, etc.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in instructional systems design; utilize technology tools to increase the capacity of Healthier Generation to design and deliver high quality virtual professional development.

  • Knowledge of and successful application of adult learning theories and emerging trends in the industry

  • Possess administrator level experience managing all aspects of a Learning Management System
  • Proficient in hosting and providing technical assistance for web-based meeting and conferencing platforms such as WebEx
  • Expertise in creating on demand training modules using Articulate Storyline 2.
  • Ability to project manage a training creation from beginning to end using ADDIE model.
  • Proven ability to manage and analyze data sets to inform training strategy and communicate data to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise of MS PowerPoint skills.


  • Travel 10-20% of the time within the United States


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least three years of experience in learning and development required, including virtual platform training and eLearning best practices and principles; certification in adult learning preferred.
  • Experience in working with instructional technology, distributed learning solutions, and administering learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cornerstone OnDemand (or similar platform) required.
  • Prior experience with Articulate Storyline 2 required.
  • Proven experience in delivering virtual training through best-in-class online learning platforms such as WebEx.
  • Experience with multiple eLearning software applications, such as PowToons, Audacity, Screencast-o-matic, FlipBuilder or other similar software.
  • Experience applying design best practices and principles. Prior experience with Adobe CS preferred.
  • Experience in classroom and online delivery of content that engages learners, meets learning objectives, and embraces teachable moments. 
  • Extensive project management and virtual operations experience.
  • Experience gathering, tracking, and analyzing data sets for strategic planning purposes.
  • Experience working with a diverse audience.
