Position Summary

Galapagos Conservancy (GC) seeks a full-time Digital Content Officer who has a passion for wildlife conservation and the skills to develop digital communications that support the organization’s objectives. The ideal candidate is an experienced web and social media manager with a strong background in digital content creation, curation, and distribution across multiple channels. This role is responsible for driving brand awareness, audience engagement, and online giving through a variety of outreach initiatives. A self-motivated, organized marketer with high attention to detail will succeed in this position. Prioritization is highly important, along with the ability to successfully manage multiple channels with little oversight. This position reports to the Director of Communications.


This is a fully remote position. Candidates anywhere in the continental U.S. will be considered. Application deadline is May 17, 2021.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·      Manage and update content on galapagos.org

·      Optimize web traffic, SEO, and paid search

·      Own content strategy and creation for all social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Insta Stories, Twitter, YouTube), including writing social copy and designing art, and explore additional social channels such as LinkedIn and TikTok

·      Aggregate/curate Galapagos-related news from the web and social media to be used in GC content

·      Manage and maintain GC’s database of digital assets

 

Education & Experience

Required:

·      Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience in digital marketing and website management

·      Exceptional writing and editing skills, and the ability to translate scientific language into engaging stories for web, social and email

·      Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and willing to learn other relevant Adobe programs (InDesign, Premiere Pro)

·      Experience managing an organization's social presence, including content creation, publishing, paid ads, and community management

·      Basic knowledge of HTML

·      Basic knowledge of Google Analytics

·      Intermediate Spanish language proficiency


Preferred:

·      Experience building digital funnel fundraising platforms and campaigns


Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position. Salary is competitive based on skills and experience, and there exists significant room for advancement based on performance. A generous benefits package includes: health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation and sick leave, and Simple IRA plan. This position is classified as exempt from overtime pay as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
