DonorsChoose.org engages the public in public schools by giving people a simple, accountable, and personal way to address educational inequity. In this clip, board member Stephen Colbert tells the organization's story.

Since its launch in 2000, more than 3.7 million "citizen philanthropists" have donated to classroom projects on DonorsChoose.org, channeling books, field trips, technology, and other resources to more than 33 million students in public schools, overwhelmingly from low-income households. Along the way, the organization helped to pioneer the field of crowdfunding and continues to make an impact in innovative ways, even as we experience our busiest year yet!

Through its dedicated team and culture, DonorsChoose.org earned recognition as the #1 "Best Nonprofit to Work For" by the Nonprofit Times.

Our Team:

The Project Fulfillment Team builds relationships and systems to ensure the right resource or experience is delivered to teachers without delay. You'll help deliver on the core mission of our organization by leveraging best-in-class fulfillment and customer service practices to ensure teachers know exactly when their materials will arrive.

Within the Project Fulfillment Team, the Business Relations subteam manages relationships with our 20+ integrated vendors; advocates for teacher-focused improvements; and identifies opportunities for improved vendor performance. Our Business Relations Agents are excellent problem solvers and are at the forefront of collaborating with our integrated vendors to help delight teachers and students with classroom materials.

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic teammates to provide exceptional assistance to both our integrated vendors and the growing community of public school teachers using our website. If you are motivated by our mission and get a thrill from helping people, we want to hear from you!

You will:

  • Learn the inner workings of project fulfillment processes and assist with all aspects of Business Relations in order to support timely procurement and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Gather and analyze data to determine trends, compile information for vendors, and work on tech and data projects that contribute towards team priorities and goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve fulfillment-related project questions for both teachers and vendors while providing insight into how we can continue to improve the teacher fulfillment experience.
  • Dig into problems with a solutions-focused mindset, thinking about the issue from all angles and considering both teacher and vendor impact.
  • Actively contribute to building and maintaining our team culture, which includes a positive and constructive work environment.
  • Communicate and problem-solve issues with vendors, while holding them accountable to teacher and district requirements and brainstorming additional ways to strengthen our collaboration and help them build their business.
  • Support daily tasks, fulfillment and reconciliation processes, and administrative duties, ranging from responding to vendor inquiries to vendor performance analysis tasks, while also working on long-term strategic projects that impact the wider team. We are a busy, lean, data-driven team that is excited to take on new challenges and drive innovations for our teachers and vendors.

You are:

  • Passionate about analyzing and using data to make your case. You’re a whiz at spreadsheets and are comfortable with pivot tables - you have solid Excel skills, and are eager to learn even more!
  • An exceptional written and oral communicator; you’re comfortable and can quickly adapt to speaking and presenting to internal teams or external vendors and teachers. You have excellent interpersonal skills - you’re a collaborator and a problem-solver who is often praised for your organization and attention to detail.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships; you’re excited to showcase a vendor’s hard work, while also being straightforward about issues that need to be faced, and helping vendors find ways to overcome challenges.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity and enjoys improving processes in routine work.
  • Action-oriented; you have no problem checking off items from your to-do list and are ready to help others when they need it without being directed to do so.
  • Team-oriented and believe that a successful day is best reflected by accomplishing a collective goal. You are motivated by the long-term impact that we are able to have on classrooms.
  • Flexible when needs change and can take a moment to laugh and enjoy the moment when good things are happening. You are open to adjusting your priorities when needed to help the team reach a goal.
  • Curious, creative, and open to sharing and learning from mistakes.
  • Tech savvy and thrive in an online environment; you are excited to learn new programs.
