Reporting to the Director of the Center for Arts Learning & Leadership (CALL), 92Y Teaching Artists are practicing professional artists and educators in a range of arts and humanities disciplines who are committed to helping students discover and nurture their intellectual and artistic passions. CALL is one of New York City’s largest community arts education providers, creating dynamic programs, performances and talks for thousands of K-12 students and their teachers each year across the boroughs—and now nationwide through our digital-track offerings.
We are currently seeking artist-educators with experience teaching poetry, nonfiction essays, and cultural criticism to join our team of Teaching Artists to lead school-based residencies as part of CALL’s Fall 2021 Young Leaders Series Season. Teaching Artists will work with participating high school classrooms, leading six-week creative writing residencies. The residencies will have as an anchor students’ study of – and a live meeting with – acclaimed poet and cultural critic Hanif Abdurraqib. 92Y produces a flexible curriculum for our Teaching Artists to use and make their own in bringing the material to life for students.
We are recruiting Teaching Artists who are available to teach at our partnering schools in-person in NYC or virtually for classrooms across the country enrolled in our digital-track program. Applicants should be available to participate in curriculum workshops with 92Y staff in September 2021 and available to work during regular school hours (8am-2:30pm ET) or after school (2:30pm-5pm ET) from October-December 2021.
Please note that, in addition to your resume, a personalized cover letter is required for consideration.
