A minimum salary of $70,730 will be provided to the successful candidate who has at least 2 years of experience directly relevant to this role, consistent with the National Women’s Law Center’s compensation framework. 

The Position

The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) seeks a Manager for Community Partnerships to work on the Child Care and Income Security team. The Manager will help with grassroots outreach, work to change the narrative about the importance of caregiving and economic security in this country, and leadership development efforts that grow public investment and advance equitable policy solutions in Child Care and Income Security.

Responsibilities

·        Help with the management of NWLC’s community partnerships portfolio, including work to develop and strengthen working relationships with national, state, and grassroots stakeholders to advance movement-building efforts focused on child care/early learning and income security. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

o   Planning and supporting the facilitation of calls and meetings;

o   Developing written materials to advance coalition activities such as toolkits and memos;

o   Coordinating with the Director of Community Partnerships to develop and maintain relationships with key partners;

o   Providing administrative support as needed

·        Collaborate with Director of Community Partnerships to develop an advisory body of community leaders that help shape and inform movement-building and narrative change work focused on child care/early learning and income security;

·        Manage development of a speakers bureau to cultivate community leaders as spokespeople on key issues in child care/early learning and income security;

·        Work in close coordination with key NWLC staff, including those on the Child Care and Early Learning team, other Center staff undertaking advocacy work, and the Marketing and Communications Team to advance child care policy; and

·        As needed, provide other program and organization-wide support.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in community-based programs, grassroots organizing, building and/or staffing coalitions, supporting advocacy campaigns;
  • Demonstrated ability to build long-term collaborative relationships with key organizational and external partners;
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and to balance both short- and longer-term projects;
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, including demonstrated meeting facilitation skills.

Additional preferred skills and knowledge:

  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • Experience with event planning and coordination;
  • Knowledge of existing Child Care and Income Security policies and Federal programs;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience working on gender and racial equity and centering communities of color in their approach to work.

Key Relationships

The Manager will report to the Director of Community Partnerships on the Child Care and Early Learning team and will work with members of the Income Security and Child Care Team and colleagues across NWLC. Additionally, the Manager will work closely with a diverse group of external partners including individual community leaders, child care providers, parents, and other constituencies most impacted by the policy issues of child care and income security. The Manager may supervise interns.

Classification

NWLC recognizes a staff bargaining unit, NWLC United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in NWLC’s bargaining unit. Specific employment terms are subject to collective bargaining.
