The Cancer Support Community (CSC), the largest nonprofit provider of social and emotional support for people affected by cancer, is seeking to replace a member of our existing Affiliate Relations staff by hiring a Coordinator, Affiliate Relations. Grounded in the mission to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community, the aim of the Affiliate Relations department is to foster and grow a sustainable and diverse network of CSC affiliates and CSC hospital and healthcare partners so that no one faces cancer alone.

The individual selected for this role will be a self-starter with a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in the non-profit sector, and committed to fulfilling the mission of CSC. This individual will report to the Executive Director of the Institute for Excellence in Psychosocial Care (IEPC)and will have no direct reports. 


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, manage and execute large & small-scale HQ sponsored network meetings, events, education/training and activities as assigned
  • Assist in managing the Continuous Quality Improvement program; a CSC headquarters initiative to ensure network viability and sustainability
  • Compile, edit, update and publish information on network intranet site comprised of headquarters updates, education, resources and more
  • Organize, take minutes, and participate in numerous Affiliate committee calls
  • Mass-communicate with a diverse network
  • Participate in and assist with grant-writing initiatives
  • Think proactively and take action as needed when conflicts arise
  • Assist ED of the IEPC with appointment scheduling
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or business or related discipline from four-year college or university
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint as well as advanced proficiency in Excel formulas and data manipulation
  • Solid business acumen, management, and problem-solving skills with project management & performance measurement skills
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to quickly develop trusting, productive relationships with staff, vendors and partners
  • Possesses a service mindset
  • Effective time management and leadership skills, ability to adhere to tight timetables
  • Cross-functional team player
  • Conducts all work in an ethical, honest, and professional manner
  • Must be willing to travel, including occasional weekend travel
  • Occasional need to work extended hours which may include evening event support as applicable
