Organizational Overview:

Founded in 2000, the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault’s (the Alliance) mission is to prevent sexual violence and reduce the harm it causes through education, research, and advocacy.

The Alliance works closely with the city’s rape crisis programs and hospitals, District Attorney’s Offices, New York Police Department, court officials and city leaders to develop and implement best practices and policies, raise public awareness, and create sustainable change for survivors. Through training, advocacy and research, the Alliance has been an active force in fighting for recognition of the magnitude of the problem of sexual violence in New York City (NYC).


Position Overview:

The SAFE Training Coordinator leads the development and implementation of all training activities of the Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Training Institute (SAFETI). SAFETI trains medical professionals in the provision of acute care and the collection of forensic evidence, and provides multiple courses for medical professions as well as training for other social service professions in sexual assault and response to such disclosures.


Specific responsibilities inherent to the position include: 

  • Lead SAFETI programming, including outreach to programs and stakeholders about training needs, developing, planning, and executing trainings, and evaluating the impact of the SAFETI program;
  • Manage SAFETI grant contracts, including developing and executing work plans, budget development, and reporting;
  • Participate / co-lead various citywide coalitions and task forces;
  • Support the Policy Advocacy work of the Alliance;
  • Work with the Alliance leadership team to develop new programs and funding opportunities; working with Development, Communications, Prevention heads to develop cohesive strategies and content;
  • Supervise interns/volunteers as necessary;
  • Collaborate with Alliance staff on shared program goals.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the field of sexual violence or related field;
  • Experience developing and implementing training programs;
  • Knowledgeable in certification protocols and policies that result in the provision of quality intervention in sexual assault;
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and of trauma-informed practices;
  • Clinical experience in working directly with sexual violence survivors;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interface with program, government, and funding partners;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team;
  • Experience working in or with health care settings;
  • Sensitivity to the impact of sexual violence in diverse communities and the ability to articulate these concerns to various stakeholders in a sensitive and respectful manner;
  • Dedication to using a social justice, anti-oppression, anti-racist framework to carry out work.

 

Compensation:

Compensation for this position is $65,000 and includes a competitive benefits package.

 

Working Environment:

As the Alliance restarts operations, the organization is operating in a full-remote capacity. Once programming has fully restarted, we anticipate offering a mixture of in-person and virtual training opportunities for the communities and organizations we serve. As a result, staff will have access to flexible, hybrid work schedules, though occasional in-person meetings and training sessions will be necessary.
