JOB TITLE: Accounting Associate
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full Time -Exempt
HOURS: 35 hours per week
COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience
DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Fiscal Director the Accounting Associate will be tasked with maintaining records of all financial transactions of the organization in keeping with all governing laws applicable to Non-Profit Organizations.
Collection of organization incoming revenue, safekeeping and banking of such revenue in a timely manner.
Recording receipts with responsibility for ensuring that all details are accurately entered and that there is adequate back up documentation for each transaction.
Ensuring that all invoices are properly authorized and have relevant supporting documentation before processing payments, preparation of checks, obtaining signatures, and responsibility for ensuring that payments are distributed in a timely manner.
Maintenance of all payroll related documents and distribution of same if necessary.
Perform reconciliation of all bank accounts as well as other reconciliations of financial records.
Preparation of audit related schedules and maintenance of all internal financial schedules as required.
Timely preparation and submission of payment requests in various forms to funding sources.
Responsible for ensuring that all financial data is properly and timely booked into the accounting software and making adjusting journal entries if necessary.
Responsible for the maintenance of all files within the Fiscal Department.
Liaise with Donors, Vendors, Funders and Banking personnel as required for fiscal matters, including but not limited to: following up on receivables, providing information on status of payments, providing funders with information as required and communicating with banks.
Performs other Fiscal Department related work as required.
- At least a B.A. degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in Fund Accounting preferred.
- Experience with FundEZ Accounting Software desirable.
- Highly organized with demonstrated attention to detail and timeliness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Proven ability to maintain the flexibility necessary to adapt, respond, and meet the needs of a non-profit organization.
