EDvance is seeking an innovative and student centered Student Success Advocate who is capable of encouraging the development and implementation of a 'whole-human' student success model and providing an environment where students can thrive through a dynamic online environment. The Student Success Advocate is an integral part of the EDvance College model, serving as the key contact for students every step of the way - from the pre-enrollment programming until the day students graduate. This role will also support the day-to-day coordination and program management of EDvance College related events and offerings. The Student Success Advocate mission is to serve as the cohort manager and as such, ensures academic success by empowering students with the resources they need to achieve their short and long-term academic, career and personal goals.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Support and Advocacy:

  • Provides support services to students from pre-enrollment through degree completion;
  • Provides cohort and individualized in person and remote support and create next steps for students based on their needs from pre-enrollment through degree completion
  • Works a minimum of two to three days per week at regional offices, with evening availability to accommodate students' needs and schedules.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of remote and in-person student support activities such as EDvance Bridge, workshops, orientation, and other support-related events.
  • Assists in administrative tasks including: updating presentations, developing student tutorials, creating email templates, and organizing content in Box.
  • Utilizes databases and data management systems to effectively track student needs and progress.
  • Assess student needs, identify trends, and make recommendations to leadership.

Student Events and Campus Climate:

  • Assists in the planning and implementation of in person and remote student events to enhance student engagement and belonging such as graduation
  • Assists in the development of monthly student newsletters to promote student engagement.

Institutional Service

  • Attends department and institutional meetings
  • Participates in accreditation activities as needed
  • Creates and manages academic resource content for websites and internal documents
  • Assist in other institutional events as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in ECE or related field
  • One year of work experience in case management, student support, or ECE administration.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace, Canvas, and Zoom
  • Ability to work occasional weekends to accommodate EDvance events and student needs
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, in-person two to three days per week in the office
  • Ability to travel locally to off-site events

Desired Qualifications:

  • One to two years of experience supporting undergraduate students
  • Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse adult learners
  • Knowledge of the California Workforce Registry system for early child educators
  • Current knowledge of the child care workforce
  • Understanding of resources available for child care providers
  • Ability to coordinate workshops and events for students and staff
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Language capacity in Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and/or other languages.
  • Ability to build and sustain excellent relationships with diverse people
  • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse backgrounds
