Justice Jobs of Maryland is urgently hiring a Program Manager to coordinate our Applicant Training Program and to assist with applicant outreach, training, and post-hire advancement (“Move-UP”). The ideal Program Manager thrives in a collaborative, team orientated environment and wants to join a group of dynamic volunteers in a rapidly growing nonprofit now in its third year of operations. This is an exciting and rewarding full- or part- time position for a program manager or coordinator with at least 1-2 years of current experience.

Justice Jobs is a free, nonprofit jobs office that helps people get jobs, keep jobs, get good references, and move up to better jobs. We are a community service; we do not charge applicant fees for our services. Our hiring rates have grown explosively during the pandemic-related employment crisis. Of all applicants hired through our service since mid-2018, half of them have been hired since April 1.

Responsibilities:

Manage the Applicant Placement Program:

·        Train, supervise, evaluate and support volunteers who work 1:1 with applicants

·        Manage the applicant/volunteer meeting schedule, matching the availability of job applicants and volunteers for intake interviews, job application sessions, personalized interview skill training, and post-interview evaluations

·        Communicate the schedule to applicants and volunteers electronically and by phone

·        Facilitate the launching of in-person and remote meetings between job applicants and volunteers

·        Troubleshoot difficulties in launching such meetings which may be held by teleconference, conference calls, or 1:1 phone calls

·        Oversee and review all applicant case records to insure accurate and complete recording of applicant progress

·        Plan next steps and overall strategy for job applicants, communicating those plans to volunteers through the applicant case records

·        Meet with the Executive Director weekly to review, evaluate, and refine the status, progress, and plans for all applicants

·        Meet weekly with the job postings research volunteer(s) to evaluate utilization of recent job postings lists, plan the strategy for the next week’s list, and determine the need for targeted lists for individual applicants

·        Communicate with and assist the Executive Director regarding applicant outreach

·        Communicate to the Executive Director when the need for resources arises (such resources to include material, financial, personnel, or personal)

Assist the Executive Director with the Applicant Outreach, Training, and Move-UP Programs:

·        Assist in the development and implementation new workshop content and improvements in current content

·        Creatively adapt workshop content to the virtual environment

·        Assist facilitation of workshops for applicants

·        Train, supervise, evaluate and support volunteer workshop facilitators

·        Assist hired employees through the Move-UP program, which may include Move-UP dinners or picnics (when possible), remote Move-UP meetings, or in-person or remote 1:1 or small group meetings with hired employees

·        Assist in researching, outreaching to, and maintaining relationships with employers with interests in hiring our applicants

·        Assist in maintaining metrics on our programs

Skills required:

·        Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

·        A commitment to grow in the practice of justice in a manner consistent with our equal opportunity policy

·        Compassion, patience, and empathy, balanced with the ability to “say what you mean without saying it mean”

·        The ability to focus on the job and make appropriate referrals for all other needs

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Strong meeting and group facilitation skills

·        Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, high-priority tasks and bring projects and initiatives to completion

·        Proficiency in computer skills using a wide range of media and formats including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Publisher and Access are a plus), email such as Outlook, OneDrive or SharePoint, electronic calendars, and Zoom

·        Proficiency using the Internet

·        Presentations using a wide range of media and formats

·        Workshop development

·        Facilitating discussion groups

·        Maintaining case records

Qualifications:

·        Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent related experience

·        2+ years’ experience in a program coordinator/manager role

·        Candidates should have current administrative experience and strong computer skills

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require approval of the Executive Director.

Salary: $17++ per hour

Job Type: Full time or Part time

Schedule: Day shift, weekdays
