Description

The Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development (IGSD), a 501 c 3 organization founded in 2003, whose mission is to promote just and sustainable societies and to protect the environment by advancing the understanding, development and implementation of effective, accountable and democratic systems of governance for sustainable development. IGSD brings together professionals from around the world who are committed to strengthening environmental law and institutions to promote sustainable development.


The ideal candidate is highly self motivated, professional, and capable of managing and prioritizing tasks. This position provides quality support to the President, as well as handling a wide range of office support to other IGSD staff as requested.


The successful candidate should have:

  • Strong interest in working in the non-profit sector with a focus on environmental issues
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and MAC products
  • Ability to multi task and work well independently. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of professionals and to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and analytical skills
  • Availability to arrange necessary logistics outside of general office hours
  • •Other languages are helpful for this international organization
  • Hold a four-year degree, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science


Support Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Maintaining the President’s schedule and activities
  • Monitoring the President’s correspondence to ensure timely action and acknowledgements
  • Preparing documents and information for all the President’s meetings
  • Arranging travel logistics for President
  • Other support as required (assisting with memos, presentations and reports)


Office Administration Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Handling general office logistics (answer phones, host conference calls, order supplies)
  • Coordinate travel logistics for IGSD staff and consultants
  • Assist with organization of offsite meetings and workshops
