Overview

City Roots Community Land Trust (CLT) seeks a motivated, community-oriented Building Projects Manager to join our small, but mighty team. The Building Projects Manager will be responsible for overseeing the housing and mixed-use projects throughout the various stages of planning and development. This position is integral to our organization's growth as we expand our portfolio of community-owned properties in the City of Rochester, NY.

Description of Essential Duties

At the outset, the primary focus of this position will be to assess feasibility, conduct due diligence, create development plans, and secure site control for new development projects with an eye toward the formation of limited-equity cooperatives and other forms of social housing.

Additionally:

  • Manage real estate transactions and closings
  • Create and manage budgets and schedules
  • Prepare funding applications and reports
  • Solicit and evaluate lending proposals
  • Manage communication and compliance with lenders and funders
  • Coordinate with property management and community engagement to deliver exceptional service
  • Perform administrative and other duties required for successful project management
  • Collaborate with team members in planning and implementing community events and/or media opportunities related to real estate activities
  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Deep alignment with and enthusiasm for CRCLT’s mission
  • Experience in affordable housing development and/or mission driven community economic development
  • Experience/knowledge in planning processes, especially participatory/democratic ones
  • Knowledge of real estate markets, real estate financing, and subsidy programs, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, HUD, HOME, CDBG, and NYSHCR
  • Knowledge of Rochester, NY
  • Ability to work under pressure, delegate, and coordinate the work required to meet project deadlines and budgets, and adapt to changing requirements
  • Ability to interact positively with people of all ethnic and economic backgrounds, including members of our community, our staff, and outside stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field or the equivalent in work experience
  • Master’s Degree in a related field a plus
  • Applicants with at least two years of other relevant professional and personal experience that prepares them for the role are encouraged to apply
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent financial literacy, including use of Excel
  • Some familiarity with design and construction processes preferred
  • Spanish speaking and writing skills are a plus.

Salary

USD 58,000 - USD 62,000

Benefits
