Position Description:


Position Purpose: The Data Coordinator manages all functions related to collection and analysis of internal and external data relevant to achieving the mission of the agency. They are responsible for providing data to the management team that will help the agency improve upon existing programs and initiatives.   The Data Coordinator is expected to use a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats tool to help staff understand community trends and opportunities for agency growth. Through their ongoing analysis of data, they are expected to work with the Operations Director to provide information important to foundation and government funding opportunities to support agency programs and initiatives.  They are also responsible for working with key stakeholders to provide an assessment of current trends particularly crime, quality of life, health conditions, needs of underserved communities, demographics, and economics. They are responsible for assisting program staff to collect data on each program or initiative, provide an analysis of the data and develop reports for the Board and staff to provide program outcome data and identify continuous improvement opportunities. They are responsible for keeping the Leadership Team informed of program trends, challenges, and barriers by providing regular quarterly data reports. 


Key Areas of Responsibility


Data Management:

  1. Develops program data tools and coordinates collection, analysis, and presentation of data for program improvement purposes.
  2. Make data analysis results and reports at regular intervals available to the Executive Director, Operations Director, Development Manager, and the Board of Directors to facilitate dissemination of program impact data to the larger Pierce County community.
  3. Provide data reports to Safe Streets Neighborhood Groups, Youth Leading Change chapters, Whole Neighborhoods, and other initiatives to be determined.
  4. Develop and maintain data tracking systems for block groups, YLC chapters, event software (Greater Giving), and other projects as assigned. 
  5. Develop and administer the Salesforce database
  6. Conduct regular data entry and data quality monitoring to maintain accurate information on donations, contacts, and program services
  7. Reconcile the Salesforce database with the cash receipts spreadsheet monthly to assure accurate donor information and recognition and produce twice monthly Development Reports.
  8. Assist agency staff to identify key performance indicators and measures of success for the agency strategic plan and report quarterly on key performance indicators to the Executive Director.
  9. Support program team with entering program activity attendance data and program survey data
  10. Provide Operations Director with an annual data budget request.


Qualifications: 

1.     Bachelor’s degree or technical degree/certification from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

2.     A heart for the mission, be results-oriented and embrace working in close-knit and collaborative environment.

3.     A commitment to understanding the diverse cultures, values, norms, history, customs and type of discrimination, marginalization, and exclusion community members face. 

4.     Experience working in a non-profit organization is preferred.

5.     Demonstrated data analytics experience. Knowledge of IT systems a plus.

6.     Skill and experience in utilizing internal and external communication channels to promote sharing the impacts of Safe Streets programs

7.     Working knowledge of community mobilization such as neighborhood organizing, youth programming and volunteer engagement a plus.


Skills and Abilities:


  1. Strong background and experience working in data collection, analysis, and reporting
  2. Familiarity with computerized information systems, including databases, Salesforce, word processing and graphics programs
  3. Comfortable with technology and at ease experimenting with new formats and with developing dashboards of information
  4. Fundamental understanding of qualitative and quantitative research concepts and tools, including the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage projects
  6. Ability to become proficient in knowledge of partnership development best practices
  7. Ability to become proficient in knowledge of community mobilization strategies
  8. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  10. Effective interpersonal skills
  11. Customer service attitude
  12. Able to work independently, take initiative, and exercise sound professional judgement
  13. Commitment to teamwork
  14. Willingness to get involved in the community
