Recovery Café was founded on the truth that every human being is precious and beloved regardless of past trauma, mental and emotional anguish, addictive behaviors or mistakes made. We provide a beautiful, safe, warm, drug and alcohol-free space and loving community to anchor Members (those we support most closely) in the sustained recovery needed to gain and maintain access to housing, social and health services, healthy relationships, education, and employment. We help people maintain recovery, reduce relapse and fulfill their potential. 


Our Mission: We are a community of individuals who have been traumatized by homelessness, addiction and other mental health challenges coming to know we are loved and that we have gifts to share. 


POSITION DESCRIPTION  

The Finance Associate is a valued member of the Recovery Café team and provides integral support for the mission of transforming lives. Working with the Director of Finance and Administration, the Finance Associate is responsible for daily accounting functions and grant reporting. Additionally, the Finance Associate spends a small amount of time supporting human resources coordination. This role requires a person with acute attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, integrity, and the ability to work with a variety of non-finance professionals. Main duties include: (1) financial reporting; (2) grant reporting; (3) accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll functions; and (4) assisting with human resources coordination including benefits, onboarding and exit documentation.


RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Prepare financial reports for grant applications, grant reporting, board meetings and finance committee meetings

·       Maintain grant agreements, track grant spending progress

·       Assist with developing annual budgets and manage allocations appropriately in QuickBooks

·       Create and update forms and spreadsheets as needed

·       Process all check and cash deposits

·       Reconcile bank and investment accounts

·       Reconcile credit card donations with bank account statements

·       Pay bills and vendor invoices in a timely manner and allocate expenses

·       Manage credit card statements and reconcile all activity

·       Research and resolve discrepancies 

·       Ensure all revenues and expenses are tracked by class

·       Maintain well-organized and up-to-date files for financial reports, deposits and payments

·       Process timesheets and submit payroll summary to contract bookkeeper

·       Renew annual licenses and permits 

·       Assist with administering employee benefits and other HR coordination

·       Other special finance projects as needed


QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting-related field, may substitute work experience related to finance, bookkeeping, or budgeting

·       Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

·       Experience in A/R, A/P, payroll, bank reconciliations, or financial reporting

·       Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize urgent needs and meet deadlines

·       Able to work independently as well as with a highly connected team

·       Strong problem-solving abilities

·       Must be able to exercise discretion, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all communications, due to the exposure to sensitive and confidential information

·       Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal, and must have the ability to communicate effectively across all functional levels

·       Working knowledge of QuickBooks preferred

·       Lived experience with addiction, homelessness, or mental health challenges a plus

The Finance Associate will work on-site at our South Lake Union location with limited contact with the individuals we serve. Multi-layered Covid-19 protocols are in place.
