Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is seeking an energetic and experienced applicant for the position of Sports Specialist in our RealArts Summer Camp. Real Arts is a five day a week day camp within our Visual and Performing Arts Department, which integrates art performance and art education. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with school-age children in a program emphasizing arts, sports, and recreation. S/he will be responsible for supervising children age 5 – 12 in a variety of sports, group game and recreational activities. The Sports Specialist will work with a creative team of experienced teachers and must be caring, responsible and fun! The Sports Specialist will be responsible for classroom management, creating and implementing sports and physical activities held within our gym, the local park and on our Environmental Playscape. Further, the Sports Specialist will be expected to create lessons which are fun and engaging for children with a range of athletic ability.


  • Over 18 years old;
  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in education or physical education;
  • Four years previous experience teaching school-age children;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Prepared to get in to a pool; and
  • Love working with youth


  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday
  • July 5 – August 17, and 20 hours of in-service training June 26-29
