The Development Associate will assist in all areas of GMGI’s development program including prospect research, donor cultivation, and stewardship activities as well as database management and special project logistics. The incumbent will support the Development Director in executing GMGI’s comprehensive campaign, an exciting multi-year, multi-million dollar fundraising campaign to provide GMGI with the resources to achieve its ambitious vision. In addition, the Development Associate will manage a pool of Annual Fund donors, using all the tools and techniques of fundraising to secure and increase annual fund gifts. Reporting to the Development Director and with a close working relationship to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be a critical member of GMGI’s growing fundraising team.

Essential Areas of Responsibility

Development 

·       Manage a pool of Annual Fund donors, providing excellent donor relations in support of increased and sustained giving

·       Conduct prospect research on individuals, foundations, and corporations and prepare research briefs in support of donor cultivation strategies at all levels of giving

·       Support the Development Director in all areas of GMGI’s comprehensive fundraising campaign

·       Support scheduling, logistics, and follow up of prospect and donor meetings for the Development Director and Executive Director

·       Other duties as assigned by the Development Director or Executive Director in support of special projects and initiatives

Events

  • Provide logistics support on the development and execution of donor events
  • Manage guest lists and RSPV’s for donor events
  • Provide support when needed on all other GMGI events


Information and Database Management

·       Lead Salesforce database input, data integrity and reporting

·       Work with Finance to ensure proper accounting of donations

·       Attend and take minutes at Development Committee meetings


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s degree required

·       2+ years’ experience in development, donor relations, or alumni relations

·       Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Adobe required

·       Familiarity with standard database functionality required (Salesforce preferred)

·       Familiarity with basic tools and techniques of prospect research

·       Demonstrated success working as a member of a high functioning team

·       Can manage a workload with changing priorities and diverse functionalities

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Capable of mastering new software applications and technologies

·       Excellent project coordination skills; solutions-oriented problem solver

·       Tenaciously organized and detail-oriented

·       Reliable and timely follow through

·       Ability to communicate with broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders 

·       Strong, self-starting work ethic

·       Professionalism in engaging with multiple stakeholders (donors, leadership, Board members)

·       Diplomacy, confidentiality, and discretion

·       Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Work Environment and Other Requirements

The Development Associate works from our headquarters located in the heart of the historic harbor, at 417 Main Street, Gloucester, MA. This role requires an ability to be flexible and, on occasion, work evenings and weekends.
