TITLE:                         Program Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:          Youth Community Center (YCC)

REPORTS TO:             Program Director 

JOB LOCATION:         27 Barrow Street       

JOB STATUS:              Full-time

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Program Coordinator assists the Program Director in managing, training and hiring staff in YCC as well as developing the program curriculum and educational focuses. In addition, the Program Coordinator is expected to maintain effective program administrative functions and day-to-day operations of YCC.

Qualifications

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is preferred, with experience in after school programs.

·       Knowledge of community-based arts education programs is a plus.

·      Strong communication skills, strong supervisory and management capacity.

·       Exceptional customer service skills, friendly demeanor with students, parents, visitors and staff.

·       A self-starter and takes initiative.

·       Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to respond flexibly to changes.

·       Strong computer skills, including knowledge of the MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.

 

Essential Functions Statement

After-School Program:


·       Assist with development of the program offerings and curriculum improvements for the after school classes for children ages 5-17.

·       Provide a safe, healthy, and diverse space and community for students in the spirit of Greenwich House’s mission and vision.

·       Provide ongoing professional development for teaching staff including monthly staff meetings and at least 1 workshop training day per term.

·       Register students, send invoices and receipts, and monitor billing.

·       Update the website as needed with calendar and program information, and monitor for online registration and parents inquiries.

·       Supervise the teaching of the after school classes per day plus the extended hours.

·       Monitor pick-ups of children from area schools including PS 41 and PS 3.

·       Order and maintain art supplies and sports equipment.

·       Maintain consistent and open communications with parents and families through newsletters, emails, and phone calls.

·       Adhere to all Department of Health regulations and renew permit annually.

·       Assist in the management of program budget, cashflow, and expenses tracking. In addition, coordinate with Fiscal in managing and monitoring the budget, and Development in communication and fundraising initiatives. 

 

Summer Arts Program:

·       Supervise 18 part-time teaching and camp counselor staff.

·       Provide adequate orientation and professional development.

·       Help design and maintain a schedule of diverse art activities, develop and improve art curriculum.

·       Schedule camp trips to area museums, zoos, aquariums, etc.

·       Register students, send invoices and receipts, and monitor billing.

·       Update the website as needed with calendar and program information, and monitor for online registration and parents inquiries.

·       Order and maintain art supplies and sports equipment.

·       Maintain consistent and open communications with parents and families.

·       Adhere to all Department of Health regulations and renew permit annually.

·       Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
