  • 3+ years of classroom experience
  • Experience/strength in pre-kindergarten or kindergarten
  • NYS Teaching Certification (or eligible for reciprocity) Certification strongly preferred
  • Data driven orientation to instruction and understanding of authentic assessments
  • Passionate about early childhood development and play based instruction
  • Demonstrated evidence of investing in families, colleagues and community members for the success of all students
  • Belief in and embodiment of La Cima’s CARE Principles

Teacher Responsibilities

Planning: Adhere to La Cima’s mission and educational philosophy including all curriculum; Maintain and enrich their expertise in the subject area(s) they teach; Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of the NYS Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core. Effectively plan with the prekindergarten team.

Differentiation: Differentiate instruction to best meet the needs of all students; Provide direct and indirect instruction through engaging, exciting and innovative learning centers; Create long and short-term plans, addressing the needs of individual students

Assessments: Develop and use a variety of authentic assessments to evaluate students’ developmental progress on an ongoing basis and maintain student records; Track student progress and sent individual goals based on the data.


Invest Scholars and Families: Create a joyful and engaging classroom environment that encourages students’ positive interactions with other students and grown-ups; Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management consistent with the development stage of the students; Communicate with parents consistently, as often as necessary to provide information, learn more about students, and share student successes; Prepare for and lead family conferences

Professional Development: Participate in a variety of staff development programs, including summer institute, DOE mandated professional development and other opportunities throughout the year; Participate in developing and meeting the goals of an individualized professional growth plan
