Full Time, Non-Exempt Position: 7.5 hours/day Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm 

Salary: $42,000 - $45,332 (depending on experience) 


POSITION SUMMARY  

Children’s Council’s Business and Technology Support (BATS) team is a key player in the citywide strategy to strengthen child care programs’ capacity to provide quality care for low- and moderate-income families. The BATS team administers payments to and fosters the business growth of 400 early care and education programs participating in San Francisco’s Early Learning Scholarship (ELS) and Preschool for All (PFA) system. 

 

The ELS Coordinator establishes and maintains relationships with a diverse group of early childhood education programs, offering comprehensive support to promote the workforce’s adoption and utilization of city-wide databases and helping them access the tools and resources to run successful businesses. The coordinator is a collaborative critical thinker, committed to continual program improvement, and has a passion for supporting the diverse needs of the community.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain data system expertise in city-wide databases and technology tools utilized by San Francisco’s early education programs.

• Develop and provide group and individualized training, both on and offsite, to support providers in understanding reporting expectations, using appropriate technology, and meeting city requirements.

• Ensure full technology/database utilization by providers by performing ongoing individualized technical assistance. This includes: monitoring accuracy of provider inputs, addressing incoming queries, researching and troubleshooting systems and user issues, and communicating with and directly assisting child care providers on- and off-site.

• Consult with and provide regular feedback to system administrators, based on experience and compiled user feedback, in the development and management of applicable databases.

• Build and maintain connections with collaborating community based organizations.

• Process documentation to ensure timely and accurate payment, follow up with providers regarding reporting needs and process payments.

• Continually seek ways to improve payment processes and improve communication and accuracy of data submitted by child care programs.

• Coordinate with other departments to track, compare and evaluate data across systems, including Cocoa, Early Learning SF, CC3 and Minute Menu.

• Collect and track data for reports to funders and other city agencies.

• Work as a team to design, adapt and translate program materials and forms.

• Refer providers (as appropriate) to other city/county and agency child care programs and services.

• Maintain provider payment and program information for audit and informational purposes.

• Attend meetings related to city child care issues, service delivery and staff development.

• Work in collaboration with other agency staff on projects and events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors’ degree and at least 3 years of relevant program support experience or equivalent. 

• Strong analytical and systems-improvement skills; ability to think creatively to determine information required for evaluation and analysis of program data.

• Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of database applications; intermediate proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel.

• Ability to work independently, adhere to priorities and meet multiple deadlines.

• Excellent skills in working with a diverse population of staff and community.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to support a non-technical audience.

• Customer-service oriented with a problem-solving mindset.

• Bilingual (both written and spoken) in either English/Spanish or English/Cantonese. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate and timely fashion.

• Dexterity to use office equipment; the ability to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time.

• Ability to speak, hear, and understand speech at normal room levels. 

• Physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, climb four flights of stairs if required.
