The Association of American Law Schools (AALS), a 501(c)(3) higher education association, represents 176 American law schools and is located in downtown Washington, DC. AALS seeks 1 undergraduate or graduate student to work approximately 20–25 hours per week, providing general administrative and office assistance at our Dupont Circle headquarters office as a Sections Student Assistant. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will work remotely until further notice. However, this role will be expected to report to our Washington, DC office once operations return to normal.
The Sections Student Assistant will provide support to the Sections Services Manager and work with all 104 AALS Sections. The student will work closely with staff on a variety of projects including virtual event coordination, updating and maintaining the AALS Sections webpages, adding individuals to Sections, distributing reports, and assisting with ongoing Sections projects.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding customer service skills as well as excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. They must be detail oriented, well-organized, and able to handle multiple projects at any given time; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work independently on projects assigned. This candidate requires knowledge of general office tasks, and the ability to utilize a telephone system. The ideal candidate must also have problem-solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position, as well as a team-oriented attitude and ability to contribute to design- and functionality-related decisions. Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom is required.
Related work experience not required but preferred: website management, demonstrated knowledge and use of computer applications, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, DreamWeaver, PhotoShop), and Canva.
