GreenFaith’s Organizers foster the emergence, development, and increased public environmental leadership by local faith leaders, thereby deepening, accelerating, and scaling the religious-environmental movement. Organizers build a relational and digital foundation for GreenFaith’s work in a specific geographic area and help launch GreenFaith Circles, vehicles through which local leaders find and raise their voices, exert influence, and create change. Circles represent at least five faith communities and active individuals from a town or city, or a portion of a county or province. The Organizer brings together these people of faith from within congregations and the “spiritual but not religious,” and helps them

  • Develop and deepen their religious-environmental identity
  • Build relationships with each other, other people and institutions of faith/spirituality and environmental organizations
  • Build skills in relational organizing, issue analysis, strategic planning, and public action
  • Assume increasing levels of leadership in defining and implementing local religious-environmental action strategies.

GreenFaith Circles educate their members and communities about climate and environmental issues from a religious perspective. They advocate, organize and mobilize for environmental stewardship and justice, foster sustainable lifestyles, and promote eco-spirituality. These Circles embody a spiritual, moral, locally-organized and globally connected response to environmental concerns.
