The Opportunity

Over the past six years, Transcend has grown from a dream on a napkin to a living breathing organization of ~80 teammates of world-class talent. We are incredibly proud of our team’s diversity, skillset, and our collective conviction in the belief that all children have infinite potential. We truly believe that our greatest asset is our extraordinary team and they are the biggest driver towards our vision. As our aspiration (and impact) grows, so does our need for exceptional teammates. To fully live out our mission to build extraordinary, equitable learning environments for students we need the most diverse, dedicated and phenomenal teammates. As the Talent Recruitment Manager, you will have the opportunity to impact the composition of our growing team and ensure we have the talent capacity to realize our vision.

You will get to do this by:

  • Developing and executing on talent sourcing and cultivation strategies for future talent needs, with a specific focus on sourcing and cultivating diverse talent.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Talent to co-design selection processes and accompanying materials.
  • Cultivating, screening, and interviewing candidates, over zoom and at times (when possible) in person.
  • Researching professional organizations, partner organizations, graduate programs, and potential connectors for role-specific outreach and talent partnerships.
  • Spearheading specific talent searches in partnership with various hiring managers.
  • Supporting our Contractor League to provide specialist ad-hoc support for our school design efforts.

Hear from two staff members about the impact you’ll get to have in this role:

Emily: Partner, People, Finance, and Ops

Nikhil: Partner, School Design Services

This role reports to Manuela Monsalve, Director of Talent.

Who You Are

A people person--that’s you! You are on the phone a lot; and are energized by cultivating great talent and understanding what drives and inspires others to do meaningful work. You are similarly energized by understanding candidates’ skill sets and matching them to specific organizational needs and roles. Your network is vast, and you enjoy networking and creating new connections every day. When you are not networking with others, you are behind the scenes masterminding an inclusive, equitable, evidence-based selection process that ensures candidates are vetted fairly and that their candidate experience is people-centered, clear, and engaging.

Knowing that your work supports a range of people and hiring needs, you excel in managing your time; you balance competing demands effectively and actively communicate with others who rely on you. You openly share your goals and ask for help when you need it so that work can be well-coordinated, especially in a virtual environment. You are an excellent project manager. The idea of working at a small and growing start-up excites you -- you are comfortable with ambiguity,  adjust to changing needs with agility, and readily roll up your sleeves to do what it takes.

Lastly, you love that your everyday work is in service to a mission that matters! You believe

deeply in the power of education to change lives, and can’t wait to contribute your love of all

things Talent to this cause.

To all of this, you bring:

  • A commitment to Transcend’s mission of transforming education, with a passion for creating extraordinary and equitable learning environments
  • A commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion in your work
  • 3-5 years of prior work experience in recruitment, business development, partnerships, or fundraising, ideally in the field of K-12 education
  • Strong project management skills and top-notch organizational systems
  • An ability to work independently with proactive and effective time management skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships and guide others to take action
  • A strong desire to continuously learn and grow, especially as it relates to all aspects of people and talent operations
  • The flexibility to work for a nimble nonprofit, and comfort with ambiguity
  • A willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to represent Transcend at events, cultivate and network with prospective talent, and visit partners when it is safe to do so
  • Eagerness to embrace and live into Transcend’s core values
