Description

Preble Street has a full-time 1st shift Housing Resource Specialist opening at Florence House. Florence House includes three programs; housing first studio apartments, safe havens and the emergency shelter. Florence House is open 24/7, 365 days a year; Florence House is designed to support clients in addressing their homelessness through finding and addressing their barriers to housing. This position will be working across all residential programs, although primarily at Florence House. 

·        This position is a 1st Shift casework position; the schedule is Sunday – Thursday, 8am-4:30pm and reports directly to a Florence House Supervisor.

  • The primary casework focus of this position is to assist Florence House Emergency Shelter and Safe Haven clients to find and maintain permanent housing through assessment, voucher management, housing search, placement assistance, and related support.
  • The Housing Resource Specialist is tasked with establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with property owners, property management companies, MaineHousing, and other resource providers to maximize housing resources for homeless women in coordination with housing resource specialists across the agency
  • Alongside all other Florence House casework staff, this position will provide program coverage, maintain client and tenant safety, monitor the security of the building, provide crisis intervention and support, and assist clients and tenants in overcoming barriers to stable housing through casework in line with the principles of Housing First.


Requirements

Candidates for this position must be eligible to bill for Targeted Case Management (TCM). Required qualifications include a master’s or bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, a comparable combination of bachelor’s degree and experience in human services or case management, or previous experience billing for TCM, as well as MHRT-1 certification. Experience with property management and/or affordable housing is preferred. Highly qualified candidates without an MHRT-1 will be considered, but will be required to complete their MHRT-1 Provisional before starting the position and must obtain full MHRT-1 certification within one year of hire.


Candidates for this position must have a positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty; strong communication skills; familiarity with community services; an understanding of low-barrier service challenges; the ability to establish boundaries and set limits with a diverse population; the ability to work as part of a team; and a satisfactory criminal records check. This position also requires local travel on a regular basis.

Benefits

This position offers competitive pay at a rate of $15.54 per hour, which annualizes to $32,323.
