 The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington is the statewide organization working to prevent all preventable brain injuries and provides services and support to individuals living with a Brain Injury, their family members, and caregivers. The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington is seeking a full‐time Development Manager to support our increased level of fund development activities. This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring the ability to think big while minding all the details.

This position develops and implements, in collaboration with other staff, exceptional cultivation, solicitation and fulfillment of corporate sponsorship, major gifts and planned giving. Enhanced donor relations (including engagement and retention) will run throughout all of these activities, which will align with key performance indicators in each area.

This position will work closely with staff and Committee Members. This person must have a “can do” attitude, with an outgoing personality, talent for organization and ability to plan, develop and execute programs and plans with minimal supervision. Must interact well with staff, Board, donors and most importantly, those we serve.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans with a primary emphasis on major gifts, corporate sponsorship associated with special events and planned giving.
  • Identify prospects, develop tools to aid in cultivating new donors and retention of current funder base (both individual and corporate).
  • Develop & manage individual donor retention strategy with an emphasis on major gifts.
  • Enhance giving program and develop annual moves management plans for high-capacity donors and sponsors.
  • Establish a planned giving program and identifies major donors to build relationships with for a legacy gift.
  • Contribute to development of Business Plan for new program of organization. 
  • Knowledge and ongoing education in best practices for sponsorship, major gift and planned giving.
  • Maintain and update donor, prospect and sponsor information donor database, including data entry, recording donations, report queries, receipting of all donations, and donor acknowledgements (Knowledge of Salesforce & RallyBound a plus). 
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and agency information.
  • Attend event/fund development planning meetings, occasionally take minutes as necessary and report back in a timely fashion. 
  • Set up and coordinate meetings for committees/teams specific to this position.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Manage one development team member.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of development experience with specific focus on Major Gifts & Sponsorship solicitation
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, Master’s a plus.
  • Ability to develop creative, out-of-the box ideas for sponsorship and donor retention.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills to meet deadlines, track performance to a specific plan and communicate back to management in both oral and written form.  
  • Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Salesforce/RallyBound experience is a plus.
  • Experience with a diverse community a plus. .
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a great deal of self-motivation.
  • Ability to build rapport & communicate effectively in writing, on the phone and in person to a wide range of constituents, including high level donors/sponsors and family members.
  • Must be able to work some week nights and weekends
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel and lift up to 25lbs on a continuous basis. Must have valid driver’s license and insurance coverage. 

This is a full-time position: 40 hours a week, benefits including medical/dental and retirement are available after 3 month trial period; located in Seattle.
